chrishill 0 Posted December 22, 2005 Having read old threads on this topic I went to halfords and bought some meguires leather cleaner/conditioner at the weekend (was going to order some of that liquid leather stuff, but couldnt wait!). The instructions that come with it are pretty weak, basically it says 'put some on then wipe it off again' :? Am i supposed to leave it to soak in for a bit? do you smother the leather completely in the stuff or just wipe it over lightly? also, the leather itself is pretty shiny, is that a sign of neglect or just typical of ten year old leather thats been sat on alot? Phil K 0 Posted December 22, 2005 After reading the title I though you might be planning to take it out to the theatre and then for a slap up dinner
chrishill 0 Posted December 22, 2005 not unless I find a tenner under the back seats!
**Ian** 0 Posted December 22, 2005 On the wifes beetle i put the cleaner on then left to dry and polished it off, the conditioner stuff I left for a hour and a half then polished the seats up with a soft clean cloth :) bit of a pain but you only do it 2-3 times a year :)
chrishill 0 Posted December 22, 2005 this is a combined cleaner/conditioner so i'm guessing from what you've said i should be leaving it on for a while, like you say it only needs doing 2/3 times a year, so if i cover the seats in quite alot of it this first time and use it all, its not too much of a big deal. the instructions really are pap though! Kevin Bacon 5 Posted December 22, 2005 Just rub it on and keep wiping until the leather absorbs it ;-) Yes unfortunately leather does get shiney and hard with age.... imagine if someone skinned you, dyed your skin black and then had some fat old denim arse rubbing you up every day for 10 years :-)
chrishill 0 Posted December 22, 2005 imagine if someone skinned you, dyed your skin black and then had some fat old denim arse rubbing you up every day for 10 years I can only dream.... ;) so long as i can prevent it cracking I'll be happy, its not bad at the moment TBH, but I dont think its ever been done properly.
