Dutch24V 0 Posted January 5, 2006 I'd try the temp. senders first before buying an ISV, much cheaper and as your problem goes when she's warm I don't it is your ISV. Dutch
matth76 0 Posted January 6, 2006 Normal operating temp is around 88/90 degrees on a VR6 so I wouldn't worry. It will normally creep to about 94-100 if you are really pushing it. Get it checked out by a specialist though to be safe and to check the fans.

davebirl 0 Posted January 17, 2006 sorry to start this up again guys please look at this picture again The yellow senor is the one on the left. Yes? Labelled No. 5? I have a VW ABV engine maintence book and that senor is postioned in the middle! In the book is says Fan runs on at 94 degress to 104 degress. Off at 94 degrees and below. If you look at the ETKA screenshot does it not look like it states on at 95 to 100 degrees? And that sensor 7 kicks in the heavy stage FAN at 112 degrees? The reason I bring this up again is that mine is now running at around 93 degrees all the time when driving. Coolant is not leaking and oil is clean. I would just like confirmation of what the correct temp is for the fans to be kicking in and out. Thanks.
dr_mat 0 Posted January 17, 2006 Is your radiator original, 1995 vintage? Most likely it's somewhat less efficient than it ought to be. I can tell you that my 1996 VR with 128k miles and a 20k mile old radiator sits at 85-90 degrees while cruising (80-85 during these cold winter days). If I drop below about 30mph, it will creep up, obviously due to there not being sufficient air flow. I don't get the fans coming on while I'm driving at anything above 30mph .. ("Yes officer, I am obliged to drive faster than that because otherwise my car overheats, honestly!")
davebirl 0 Posted January 17, 2006 I have also found this thread http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32857 I don't have a blue temp sensor on the side of my Rad?
Dutch24V 0 Posted January 17, 2006 Blue temp. sender is the middle one and tells the ecu the engine temp. for fuelling etc. It doesn't control any cooling or display guages either. Dutch
RW1 0 Posted January 17, 2006 The yellow senor is the one on the left. Yes? Labelled No. 5? Yes it is the one. Position in the three holes is not always the same as EKTA. Item 6 is the engine ECU temp sender Item 7 is the 3rd rad fan speed but comes in two forms, aircon - 4 pin, non aircon (UK) 2 pin. ie. a UK VR6 will normally have item (7), not 7. . davebirl 0 Posted January 17, 2006 I was out last night with my VW mechanic friend and we attached the 5052 diagnosis unit to my 95 VR6. At exactly 95 degrees on the diagnosis unit my fans kick in. About 20 seconds later the temp drop to 93 degrees and they turn off again. It will do this while ideling all the time, up and down from 95 to 93 degrees but never goes below that or above it either. Now I know that the engine temp is retreived from the Blue temp sensor but the gauge in the car also stated 95 degrees too. Why should the fans run any earlier if the thermostat only opens at 80c anyway? 8)
