Which is quicker?

 

Autoexpress have just done a test on these this week so these are their figures. If you've read it don't tell anyone the answers. What do you think. These are 0-60mph tests.

 

Astra 1.8 elegance vs Golf Mk4 GTI 2.0

 

Vauxhall Agila 1.2 vs Smart ForTwo Brabus

 

Hyundai Getz 1.6 vs New Mini Cooper

 

Seat Ibiza TDI Sport (100) vs Yaris D-4D T2

 

MG ZS 110 vs Rover 45 Diesel

 

Vauxhall 1.3 SR vs Citroen AX 1.1 TZX

the getz vs mini isnt 'too' much of a suprise, mini's arent mini anymore, I'd imagine the getz is made from chipboard and chewing-gum, so much lighter with the same size engine.

My 1.4 ax was a rocket. just dont try and steer it once it had gone off.

 

I can well believe a 1.1 would show a nova a clean pair of heals.

It was the Nova 1.3 SR and the test was 0-60, not top speed or anything.

 

These are from Autoexpress Magazine, I doubt they've fiddled the results.

I beat a few 1.3 SR's in my AX 1.1i (got given it as a first car), they're surprisingly fast!

How many gearchanges were involved, were they all RR'd to see if they were running right, new clutches... theres soo many variables to these tests and whats the point anyway. Half off them are geared for town driving anyway, why not do 0-100 etc.

AX1.1's are REALLY low insurance group as well. Like '1' or something.

I think the idea of the test was to show that just because a car says or looks like its quick, it doesn't necessarily mean it is.
