Pass side indicators come on when breaking :?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any ideas? when i break, my passangers side indicators come on [solid, not flashing]. Only noticed as the interior indicator was coming on!

Has this happened to anyone before? i've tried the search, but couldnt see anything.

Cheers,

Baz.

A short circuit in the rear cluster is a good candidate. Disconnect the rear passenger-side main cluster and see if the problem goes away.

Mine did this. I'd bent a couple of pins when I was swapping the rear light clusters, which resulted in the brake light earthing through the indicator circuit. Unhook the multi plug on each side and check all the pins are straight.

iirc this is the usual culprit or you could turn everytime you brake

also check the earths around the rear cluster

i remember one time in our old '86 golf gti 8 valver, every time we turned left, the horn beeped.

My mates 87 Jetta 16v did that, except round right corners and he had music air horns. Brilliant!
