How much have you spent on your C ?

Recommended Posts

Hello All

The other day I was digging out my log book and paper work for the C and decided to organise the receipts in a folder,(sad )

then a quick calculate of who much I've spent on the car over a year.. :?:

I was Shocked to see how much I've spent !! About 4 k !!

Mind you I've had the car for 8 months now and that's included wheels ect.. :D

This excludes labour cos all the work done is by meself !!

So how much have you spent on your beloved C ?

I spent around £2000 in my first year of ownership.. and that was just on general stuff, nothing fancy like alloy wheels or stereo gear. Off the top of my head, some of the things :

Full Service @ Stealth Racing : £400 (LOADS of stuff done though)

New Windscreen : £240

Tappets : £250

New Exhaust Centre Section : £200

New Backbox : £130

3 New Front Tyres (Dunlop) : £210 (Got a huge nail in one.. couldn't be repaired)

2 New Rear Tyres (Goodyear) : £90 (Found Eagle F1's for £45 each!!)

--------

That lot works out around £1500, but there was tonnes of other stuff... a new Bosch Silver battery, VW carpets, new HT leads, distributor cap, rotor arm.. so I did quite a lot to it in the space of a year!!

I paid 2700 for my C last september and have easily spent 4K on her since... And I'm likely to be spending another 2.5 to 3K on an engine rebuild 'cos of a £1.25 bolt!

I'm still in love with driving my G60 though and I can't wait to get her back on the road with the new and improved looks and engine! :D

In the year I have owned the car, all DIY so no labour.

£250 tyres

£100 on brakes

£55 service parts

£200 new wheels

£129 new CD some twats nicked, plus

£60 glass excess

£20 paint,wax.

Not to bad so far, but have a great wad of reciepts from the two former owners, about 5Ks worth, on keeping the car running , no mods.

Would like to keep it that way but dont think it will happen.

Cheers Guy.

2CC / Chris got 4 Speedlines refurbed at a place down in Bristol, at the cost of £50 a wheel.. I saw the work, and the wheels looked perfect to me.

Hopefully he'll notice this thread and post an advert for the company :)

Flippin' eck Ant - that's a serious amount of folding stuff your car is consuming! Still, you can't take it with you when you die (the car and the money  )

Ok guys i know i said i only spent 4.95 on my C so far but while going through stuff with log book of money spent i found that one of the previous owners (a woman) had been ripped of big style on maintanence alone and following the last bill she sold the car read on and you will understand why:

20/07/98:

1 washerstork £43.95

1 o/s front fog lamp £73.86

1 n/s/f indicator £26.70

4 uniroyal 185 55 r15 £294.54

4 valves £8

4 balance £16

labour: £64.00

TOTAL: 618.81

10/08/98

1 2nd hand caliper £28.00

labour: £32.00

TOTAL: £100.50

18/03/99

1 oil filter £5.35

1 Air filter £12.15

4 spark plugs £18.36

screenwash £1.25

anti freeze £5.50

brake pads front and rear £45.61

copper slip £3.00

1 expansion bottle cap £9.35

1 Valve £2.00

labour: £128.00

Total: 290.13

23/03/99

1 Radiator Fan Unit £76.85

labour: £32.00

Total: £127.90

05/08/99

1 oil filter £6.21

1 air filter £10.43

4 spark plugs £18.36

screenwash £1.25

copper slip £1.25

1 exhaust rear section £122.96

labour: £107.00

Total: £356.01

On the final bill there was a lot of prices crossed out and changed for lower values so she must have complained or done price checks these bills where all from the same garage and yes the dates are correct some being only a month after a previous visit, dunno if i can name the garage so i wont until im asked, is it just me or is this shocking.
