Mot emmision's usefull info

Recommended Posts

Just to clear a few things up.http://www.motuk.co.uk/exhaust_emmissions.htm.

So for example anyone who has car registered after 1st 0f august 1992 (k reg) and has fitted a 24v engine it would not be tested as being a catalyst equiped car because the engine code would not be correct for that particular car.The limits would then be raised to 3.5% so it would pass easily.

Hope thats clear.

sorry for being stupid, but doesn't it say if there's an exact match for the CAR then do the cat test??

so if your car is a vr it will be tested as such regardless of engine??

Exactly if there's no match it get's tested as a pre cat car regardless of age.

It seems that the non cat test can be applied to any car of any age with a non OE fitment engine!!

But you can't get an exact match when youve got a r32 engine fitted as there wasnt such a car.

dont get too excited chaps, I just found this on the very same site.

"Vehicles fitted with a different engine:

Test according to which is older, engine or vehicle.

e.g. A 1995 car fitted with a 1991 engine (of whatever make), test to 1991 standards for emission purposes.

Note: The onus is on the vehicle presenter

to prove engine age."

Yes i did spot that but it doesnt work like that when entering it on the computer.

The computer tells you what the limits are as far as the emissions go,it doesnt say anything about testing according to what is older.eg the car or the engine.
