rear lights

Recommended Posts

I've just tinted my rear lights, applied a few coats of lacquer, but they're not getting shiny, in fact they almost look matt :( Do they become shinier as the lacquer hardens or do i need to do anything else to them? Colourwise the tinting spray has done a good job.

Leave it to harden for a week. Then, take them off the car again and give them a really good scrub with some wet and dry paper + plenty of water. From memory I used 1000 grit, then 1600. When done, use a cutting compound such as Safe Cut (yellow bottle from Halfords).

After this they should be very shiny ;) :)

Cazza16v, thanks very much for the tip. Another thing i've noted is that after applying the lacquer, the redness seems to diminish somewhat, ie looks a bit more orange, although i sprayed about 5 coats of tinting spray. Is that the same for anyone else?
