Stan 24v 0 Posted May 7, 2006 Wait til you get the extra 12 valves in, then you can really say: "My VR is faster all of a sudden!!!" :D

double-6s 0 Posted May 8, 2006 Lol. When all 24 arrive I'm just going to cruise round all day being annoying and cocky :)

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 8, 2006 Wait til you get the extra 12 valves in, then you can really say: "My VR is faster all of a sudden!!!" :D It won't be though. The torque delivery low down decieves you into thinking it is. There would be nothing seperating standard a 12 and 24V rados in a 0 - 150 test,
Chris VR6nos 0 Posted May 8, 2006 That Ebay VR6 'Race Engine' guy replied to a message i sent to him. "not sure of exactly what clearence volume, but was all measured by my engine builder and he has taken 1.5mm of the block and pocketed 1.5mm out of piston crown,so clearence is same as standard engine, which allows you to use anything up to approx 285 degree duration with 11mm of lift." double-6s 0 Posted May 8, 2006 And in english chris? lol Turned out the head on that one wasn't even rebuilt anyway.

I'll have to sort that out!
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 8, 2006 Erm, aren't you the one that started the thread saying you could have got up to 118 on your local test 'track'? So why is 150 so far fetched??! :-) Yeah the 24V is very quiet..... you could barely hear Jay's at all at the rolling road day. I like that tho. You've heard Phat's at Curborough, so they can sound raw if required....
Stan 24v 0 Posted May 8, 2006 They dont sound quiet all of the time, believe me!!! Especially with a stainless, and a K&N fitted 8)

I know mine is defo quicker than the 12v engine, and my last VR, but it does have custom code software ;)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 8, 2006 Power is about the same, most of the standard VRs at the rolling road day made over 200 ponies and I think one even got as high as 211ish. Torque wasn't far off the 2.8 24v's either from the few plots I looked at. I'm just going by how a 4Motion drove, very good from a standing start but it just didn't pull with the same vigour past 4K, kind of like a schricked VR! The 12V starts to really move from 4K. I doubt there'd be any more than a couple of car lengths in it tbh, but it would be a good experiment as I've not driven a 2.8 24V Rado yet.....the reduction in weight over the MK4 can only help it! Just pointing out that 0-150 mph is a fairly theoretical past-time mate :) I personally don't get too many opportunities to do it :(
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 8, 2006 OK, 0-110 then :-) I reckon if the 24V gets a good launch (and it's bottom end will help ensure that) then it will be very hard to catch again....
double-6s 0 Posted May 8, 2006 I don't give a monkeys either way mate :) I'm sure there's not a lot in it. I am gonna miss the woofle and waaaaarrrrpppp though :(
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 8, 2006 They still sound VERY nice when pushed! They sound more refined than the 12V....which again, I like!
Stan 24v 0 Posted May 8, 2006 It still sounds like a V6 Will!!!!! Just quiet as feck when its idling, or not doing much. As soon as you put your foot down................ :luvlove: :luvlove: :luvlove: :luvlove: :luvlove: When you come up you'll get to hear mine ;)
