Moding 2.0 corrado

I have a 1993 2.0l 16v corrado, its a good car but not much go, so I would like to give it some go but not down the full rebuild route

 

I have been told that a good exhaust with cat bypass pipe with a good airfilter on the induction side will make a reasonable performance upgrade accompanied with a golf 16valve inlet cam?? is this correct?? what are the difference's with camshafts?

 

I have also found that there are different size inlet manifolds 40mm, 42mm, 50mm, what size is fitted to the corrado??

have a look at this.... and do a search for KR cam on here. its been discussed a million times!!!

 

I have a standard 2ltr with the KR cam fitted and a Jetex air filter and I get 158bhp, never got round to doing the cat bypass though, dunno if its worth it now with the MOT regulations that are in force....

How easy is it to fit a KR cam? Sounds like it's worthwhile but without sounding too stupid is it something DIY or more tricky?

A cam change on a valver can be done in a couple of hours, but you must be confident in setting up the timing marks correctly. If you get these wrong you risk pistons hitting the valves - big damage + big money = big pain in the arse.

 

I've tried with and without the cat, I eventually sold my cat bypass and kept the cat.
