grimmy 0 Posted May 17, 2006 Well after a bit of messing around i've got myself a pretty good car. Last week i bought a 2.0 16v but had some trouble with it idling and not starting randomly so i took it back... But while at my local vw specialist having the valver checked out i spotted another corrado for sale, and after an inspection it seemed a really nice example so i parted with a bit more cash on both the car and the insurance but couldn't resist the sound of the vr6! The valver And the VR6! It has a small dent on the o/s rear arch but i'm going to get that seen to as soon as possible. Other than that the car is in very good shape, 100k on the clock and full service history. Considering i'm 21 i'm pretty chuffed with getting insured fully comp for only 850! All in all i'm a very happy boy :D

double-6s 0 Posted May 17, 2006 Nice one dude :) Welcome to the world of vr ownership. You got deep pockets ;)
double-6s 0 Posted May 17, 2006 Hey mate, any idea what exhaust that is? Looks the same as mine but I haven't got a clue what it is....
Phil K 0 Posted May 17, 2006 I'd guess that's a magnex tbh
grimmy 0 Posted May 17, 2006 Yeah it is a magnex, stainless from the cat back fitted by the previous owner. Sounds pretty good from what i can tell, the engine is so damn loud though its anyones guess :) *edit* heres a pic
veeDuB_Rado 0 Posted May 17, 2006 Nice one mate, love the color and it sitting on the speedlines :)
ReekieVR 0 Posted May 17, 2006 A fine choice sir - welcome to 'raddo world. Is that a Chimaera arse in front of the valver ? Where are you based - nice countryside you got there too.
Jim 2 Posted May 17, 2006 That valver looks bloody clean!
KADVR6 0 Posted May 17, 2006 looking nice mate, so let the spending begin
grimmy 0 Posted May 17, 2006 The valver did "look" clean but things weren't as they seemed, i shant say anymore as its up for sale again! That is a chimaera arse infront of it yes, thats my dads money drainer, at least the vr6 won't be as costly to run as that i hope. I'm in Gloucestershire nearish to Stroud so i'm pretty much well in the country, have some pretty fun roads to put the vr6 through its paces round here :)
JimSTORM 0 Posted May 17, 2006 How the hell did you get such cheap insurance, and with who ?
grimmy 0 Posted May 17, 2006 I honestly don't know why its so cheap, i'm only 21 with just 2 years ncb. I guess area must have alot to do with it. The 2.0 16v was 700 quid fully comp, so to change it over to the VR6 was another 158. I put my dad on as a named driver and it brought the price down by about 150 pounds!! That was with Admiral insurance, using confused.com
CazzaVR 0 Posted May 29, 2006 Hey, grimmy, just noticed your from Stroud! I'm just down the road in Wotton- I'll keep an eye out for you 8) Nice VR by the way!
lukeage 0 Posted May 29, 2006 Looks like a good buy mate - do you still have the original airbox - if you replace that cone you will note a difference in the hot weather.
grimmy 0 Posted May 29, 2006 Yeah the guy gave me the original airbox and a k&n panel filter, i'm also curious to hear what the standard airbox sounds like... Nothing compared to the cone i'm sure Cazza, i'm taking my vr to a body shop in wotton this week to get the rear arch sprayed. So keep your eyes peeled :) The car used to belong to a guy near berkley and he got a quote from the place in wotton hence me taking it there..
mtc R32 0 Posted May 29, 2006 Tidy.... Prefer the colour of your Valver though.. I'm sure you'll love the extra bhp's
CazzaVR 0 Posted May 30, 2006 grimmy, is it Autotech? Just down the road :) Not particularly cheap, but they're very good. They sprayed the grilles on my vRS and did a brilliant job.
lukeage 0 Posted May 30, 2006 Yeah the guy gave me the original airbox and a k&n panel filter, i'm also curious to hear what the standard airbox sounds like... Nothing compared to the cone i'm sure The sound on the cone is lush - but i found that if you don't get a decent air feed it feels stuffy as the engine hoovers in a lot of hot sitcky air off itself. The std aribox is a lot more quiet but i prefered that - so its down to taste.
grimmy 0 Posted May 30, 2006 Cazza, it was colour tech i think? In wooten under-edge, probably the same place i shouldn't have thought theres that many spray shops around wooten. The guy said it was quite expensive but very very good, i got quoted about 370 for a rear arch to be repaired and sprayed up. Its a smallish dent but very noticeable :( I'll get before and after pics up when i get it sorted out. There is also a cold air feed onto the filter but i'm not sure how effective it is, are there any decent heatshields out there?
NottsCounty 0 Posted May 30, 2006 If I was you i'd get all that crap out of the gap between the wiper motor and heater intake, if you've not already!! Basically, it builds up - blocks the drainage holes and soaks the inside of your car. Well, it did mine...... And i'm sure i've read of a few others!!!!
LJ 0 Posted May 30, 2006 That looks like a very nice and honest VR. Try it with the standard airbox with the K&N panel fitted, you should find the engine torquier.... Some good roads around that part of the country :-)
grimmy 0 Posted June 6, 2006 Well all was going very well with my car, and i was chuffed to bits with it. After having a new air flow meter fitted when it had its MOT, the car wouldn't hold its idle randomly. It'd be fine half the time, and the other half would just die when the engine was left to idle. Two days ago at least one cylinder stopped firing, now the car is running very very lumpy and sounds terrible! Its using alot of oil but i'm not sure if thats unusual for the car, its certainly not smoking or leaking oil visibly so i'm not sure what to make of it. I've booked it in at my local vw specialist but thats not untill thursday so i'm stuck driving a diesel rover 200!!! Somebody tell me the cars not dead already? I haven't even pushed it yet! :(
.Rich. 0 Posted June 6, 2006 Sorry to hear about your problems mate, it looks a nice car thought. I bought my vr from a guy in stroud!
ZippyVR6 0 Posted June 6, 2006 Congrats on the purchase but without wanting to be a killjoy. A very long time ago a mate of mine had a K plate VR on that colour in Stow on the Wold. It suffered a huge oil failure at serious speeds on the M5 and the garage bought it off him. (It was an autobox) I will give him a bell to see if he remembers the reg number. Ill PM it to you if he can find it. Hope it aint all bad news buddy.
