chrishill 0 Posted June 9, 2006 Getting no bites on m'golf on any of the forums I posted it on, well, one guy on e38 who only has a grand to spend... other than that, nothing. its on the trader website too and i've had nowt off that. getting desperate to shift it now, so I was thinking about sticking it on ebay but i'm a little dubious about selling a car on there. Tips: use the best key words that people search for. ;; Upload a couple pics ;; put a pic on the description when people search for it ;; Give as much information as possible. Somehow you want to avoid getting time wasters - not sure how. You also want to encourage people to view the car before buying. Think about what payment methods you accept, like Bankers cheque or what. Usual car selling stuff applies - dont go meet a guy on your own down an empty country lane. Personally I hate seeing "reserve not met" - why not put in a starting bid? Consider how low you can go, but remember you can always remove the item and not sell. "Buy it Now" might work - hard to tell if it does. Is the car super Bling or is it super reliable? Or is it just a dog? Jim 1 Posted June 9, 2006 My advice with anything on eBay if you want a good sale: Have a very good, clear, thorough description of the car and its condition. Make sure every last bit of info is there, and make sure you put up loads of pictures. Point out that you're NOT interested in overseas bidders, and that you are NOT bidding to view the car - you bid to buy - and if you want to come view the car, then to just call you! I sold my t25 van on the bay for a grand more than anyone said i'd get for it, including all the camper 'specialists'. Don't even think about accepting paypal - the charges would be fairly large on that sort of amount. And make sure you state somewhere the max amount of time people have to pay infull/a deposit. 16vradge 0 Posted June 9, 2006 I've sold three cars through ebay, not had any problems - the sale were'nt finalised through ebay. I start the listing on a monday, run it for 7 days and state that viewings can be arranged for the coming weekend. Also put in the ad that its advertised privately and you reserve the right to remove it before the end of auction. Each time I listed a car people came to view on the saturday and took it there and then, paying cash. I then ended the auction early on ebay. As Jim said list everything and put plenty pics up, then when they come to view they will know pretty much everything and be more likely to buy.
