if it wer'nt for porn id be on at least 5000 posts!

umm anyway, my engines on its way out. went down a hill last night for about a mile on the over run and when i picked the throttle back clouds and clouds of smoke bellowed out the back, nice!

It also does it when ive been on the motor way at 80-90 for ages and pull off and stop, then when i pull away yuck! Never does it if im thrashing it though, which is wierd? Im hoping that means its just the head and my bottom end is still intact!

I had the same prob.

Andy at PSI replaced my temp sensor, cleaned the breather pipes and udle control valve thingy, as well as the throttle body.

I've also started using thicker oil and am going onto Silkolene Pro S next service.

Mine hardly ever does it now.

Check your sparks for oil.

Best to take it to an expert but I'd try these first as it sounds like a carbon copy of mine.

Piston ring wear can only be solved by a head rebuild (expensive!) so try these first.

Easiest thing to do is change the oil to Silkolene Pro S (opie oils cheapest) and clean/replace your sparks as well as cleaning the breather pipes and throttle body.

Air Temp sensor might not do anything but I needed one, (only about £10 from VAG).

However, it could be a knackered engine, til someone like PSI look at it it's only guess work.

What colour smoke? Black is better than blue! As in cheaper!

What mine was mainly doing (still burns small amounts of oil) was over fuelling due to the temp sensor being faulty and telling the ECU wrong info, which in turn led it to put more petrol in and on the overrun that built up in the exhaust and as soon as you accelerate, pooof, it burns it all.
