BRAKES ON VR6

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, we are going to have our Vr6 engine rebuilt and supercharged this year in preparation for next yeaars shows. We were just wondering whats the best way to upgrade the brakes to match the engine power increase? Do we need bigger calipers, discs etc or would better quality discs and pads suffice? The front discs and pads really need replacing now so we are looking at carrying out the work on the braking system presently. Any thoughts and help would be greatly appreciated.

288's are an easy conversion if you have suitable wheels and 312's will work as well. Going further than that means big money on something like Tarox or Brembo etc calipers and discs.

Go 288's they should fit fine - they go on ok on my standard speedlines.

Do a search for MK3 288mm discs etc.

With a charger I'd recommend 312s minimum as you'll be regularly stamping on the brakes at 100+ :-) 288s can't cope with that for long, 312s can stomach it for longer, and 4 pot kits are designed for it ;-)
