Jim Bowen 1 Posted August 15, 2006 Hi guys, I've been wanting a Corrado VR6 for about 1.5yrs now, and still not got one. My car has just died (last thursday) melted a valve apparantely and i'm not going to repair it, so need to buck my ideas up and get a car asap. I've found a VR6 locally, quick spec: -M-reg -VR6 -dragon green -130,000miles -recaro heated leather -air con -sunroof apparantely it was an ex-demo model and came with a lot of extras, guy who owns it is a mechanic and had it for about 8yrs, its hasn't had the timing chain/tensioners done, all electrics work, no rust that i could see, he says he gets it on the ramp pretty often and underneath is fine. its not up for sale, i've asked him if he'd sell it, and he would, he said £4250, i reckon he'll take £4k am just worried about any likely probs it may get in next 30,000 miles and just some general advice on it. am worried about buying a car with so many miles, its just that i really love the corrado and everything else in that price range seems inferior, has excuses for handling and performance, or just very common, bland and run of the mill
Nick 0 Posted August 15, 2006 http://www.the-corrado.net/wiki/index.p ... _Checklist Buyers guide! Sounds like a good un to me, but i know not very much. If its been owned by a mechanic for 8 years, then its likely to have been looked after. The fact he has had it for 8 years, also says alot of positives in my mind at least. Its not really that high mileage.... You will get trouble with any car tho, and they are reasonably expensive to fix, but im sure you could twist the mechanics arm who owns it now, hed be happy to help you fix it should it go wrong. A rado never fully leaves your system...
blackcat 0 Posted August 15, 2006 sounds like a good price for an m reg with heated leather and air con. mileage is quite high but could go on for much longer without chains/tensioners/whatever needing doing. However, it is over 10 years old so it's not going to be perfect but having said that it's been looked after by a mechanic so it could be alright. I think when you buy any second hand car you take a bit of a gamble as to its condition.
Jim Bowen 1 Posted August 15, 2006 am thinking i should get it, he's only 2mins down the road from me, so ideal to talk to when/if something starts playing up. my other options are -mk4 golf gti 1.8t -audi a3 1.8t sport -seat ibiza 1.8t cupra just the corrado seems more grown up to me, and well known as being a great car
