Calling all those adapter kings :)

Recommended Posts

Ok I need to get this right, so your help would be much appreciated :)

I've got my set of D90's all 8J wide... ET52!!!!

These are going on my Corrado VR 1996!!!

Now I don't want arch issues, but i want them to be as far out as I can go as I want the coilovers woud right down to just above the tyres!!!! :)

What thickness adapters do I need????

Really appreciate a speedy response as I need to order them asap...

Cheers Chappies!!

Actually are they 16"???

I have 8X17's ET42 on mine using 25mm spacers however.... I had clearance issues on the rear quite substantially cutting into the tyre so I immediately rolled them as my tyres would be gone within a few days!!!!!

So I would say if you don't want clearance issues either use 15-20mm to be on the safe side or roll your arches!!!

unless others with 16's can tell you otherwise

Ok.... whats the lowest ET I can go on 16's without them catching...ET52 with 22mm adapters takes it to ET30!!! Won't that be ok????

You will need 20mm or smaller if you can as bluejoe says :)

If the vr et is 42...then it works as follows.

My G60 is et35.

8x16's all round with 25mm adapters all round.

So final et is 27.

Thats 8mm stuck further out of the arches over standard wheel width and et setup.

There is no catching at all with 195/45's all round.

So assuming vr is et42.

using 8x16's all round with 20mm adapters all round.

So final et would be 32.

Thats 10mm stuck further out of the arches over standard wheel width and et setup.

Thats 2mm difference from G60 to vr6. :)

Neil.

Cheers for that Riley...

I've found a guy that has a set of H&R adapters at a good price, problem is they are 22mm thickness....

The Vr is I think ET43...

Do you rekon that'll be ok or should I just stick with 20's???

I will be saving quite a bit with the 22mm so!!!!

Thats 10mm stuck further out of the arches over standard wheel width and et setup.

No probs m8,id like to say for definate that you would be ok...

I suppose we are only talking a few mm difference clearance wise from a late (wide arch) g60 to a vr6...so i would guess you would 'just' be ok if on 195/45's.

They arent my old adapters are they? i had some 25mm ones that were machined down to 22mm.

You could always have these 22mm ones machined down a couple of mm or maybe even slightly more.4mm maybe?

Sorry i cant say for definate m8 :(

Neil.

The ear arches are where you will probably have the most in the way of clearance issues and the rear arches on a G60 and VR6 are the same. Its only the front arches that are wider on a VR6 IIRC

isnt 20mm the smallest you can go with adapters without safety issues?

fk make 15mm adapters with tuv approval.

always buy the thickest as its so cheap to have them machined down to fit correctly.

whats the relation with offset and the measurements in mm?

Riley said a G with et35 and 25mm spacers equates to et27? I don't understand how you get to that figure

It can be a bit confusing m8 :)

The porsche design 90's are et52.5,so if you use a 25mm spacer you have an et of 27.5.

the et is the distance from the mounting face of the wheel (inside) to the center of the whole wheels width.

Neil. :)
