double-6s 0 Posted November 8, 2006 Hi Can anyone tell me if there is such a thing as a UK Passat (B4) estate vr6? And what about the same as above + syncro? Cheers Will :)
double-6s 0 Posted November 8, 2006 I've answered my own question cheers :) Except the syncro bit? And how much agro would it be to put a vr6 lump in a non-vr passat estate?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 9, 2006 Not sure if the V6 synchro came over here, but the golf 3 v6 synchro didn't......I think both had OBD2 2.9s engines, IIRC, don't quote me! As for fitting a VR into a B4....peice of cake....in theory. VW designed the VR to fit in all it's FWD platforms (it was actually tested in the Rallye first!).....apart from the Polo etc obviously :-)
Campaign 0 Posted November 9, 2006 It was the 2.8 in Passats, they did an Estate, and a very nice "luxury version" (can't remember the exact model name), but I don't think Synchro was ever imported (if indeed there ever was one)
double-6s 0 Posted November 9, 2006 Just found this... The VR6 engine was introduced in Europe in 1991 in the Passat and Corrado, and in North America the following year. The Passat, Passat Variant wagon and US-spec Corrado used the original 2.8 L design, while the Euro-spec Corrado and the 4WD Passat Syncro received a 2.9 L version with 190 PS (187 hp/140 kW). This version also had a free flowing 6 cm (2.5 in) catalytic converter, enlarged inlet manifold and larger throttle body.

Campaign 0 Posted November 9, 2006 That's the one - nearly bought one after the Vento VR6, but ended up with a more economical (and slightly slower) Pug Diesel...
double-6s 0 Posted November 9, 2006 I do quite fancy a 2.9 litre 4 wheel drive passat VR estate though! Quite a lot of car! And a charger :)
