Stan 24v 0 Posted December 23, 2006 Is there supposed to be a light in the cubby hole under the fan switches? What about inside the ash tray too?
Bojmobile 0 Posted December 23, 2006 Ash tray is meant to light up but not cubby hole AFAIK.
GIXXERUK 0 Posted December 23, 2006 ash tray has a light, the cubby doesnt , just a rubber gromit for wires to be put through , it would be easy enough to fit a light in there though :-)
nocrap 0 Posted December 23, 2006 Nah no light in there, ashtray might light due to being surrounded by light from the cig lighter and switches
Stan 24v 0 Posted December 23, 2006 Think I may have to make my own up then, cheers ;)
Bojmobile 0 Posted December 23, 2006 Ash tray - has a fitted light - green bulb to illuminate the facia - this wire is usually used to tap into for the power for VDO gauges.

GIXXERUK 0 Posted December 23, 2006 Think I may have to make my own up then, cheers ;) hmm . it would look good linked through the interior light so it comes on as the door is opened  easy enough to use the door switches
cata 0 Posted December 23, 2006 Be sure to keep us posted, I'm probably going to try it out too.
Slimg60 0 Posted December 24, 2006 if you use the door switches, it's a switchable earth, not a switchable 12volts.
GIXXERUK 0 Posted December 24, 2006 if you use the door switches, it's a switchable earth, not a switchable 12volts. no one said otherwise ? 12v+ supply and use the doors as a switch on the earth
Slimg60 0 Posted December 24, 2006 I put lights into the rear footwells for people to see getting in, but didn't realise it had a switching earth and coludn't get them to work.
Stan 24v 0 Posted December 24, 2006 I'd probably wire them into the interior lights anyway tbh, that way if Ive got my mobile etc in there then I can see it if needed, it'll also brighten it up a little. Probably be a red LED to match the switches. Was also thinking of some downlights from the sunroof switch panel, like the Audi's have.
cata 0 Posted January 20, 2007 Well for the first time since I've had the car, I actually found a pleasant surprise while stripping through the interior to find damaged stuff. Maybe it's a North American thing but this is what I found in the cubby hole, no light bulb though :? . No part # and yes that's a tiny switch that turns it on/off but isn't wired to turn on when the glove box is opened. Might do that when I run out of things to do  [EDIT] Err...we are talking about the glove box here aren't we?
Stan 24v 0 Posted January 20, 2007 No mate, talking about the cuby hole in the centre of the dash, where the gauges normally sit (if fitted) ;)
cata 0 Posted January 21, 2007  I had a feeling someone might say that...
dinkus 10 Posted January 21, 2007 ...or a stack of CDs and the box for the front of the head unit if not
Stan 24v 0 Posted January 21, 2007 May just stick some gauges in it anyway 8)
will 2 0 Posted January 22, 2007 ash tray light is a green bulb and holder complete i just bought one for mine cost about £4 or just under but only from main dealer, to get at the bulb (if you dont know) pull out the ash tray all the way, and unscrew the one screw at the back then pull the ash tray holder out, then just unclip the light just like that.
