interesting to see that normal heavy duty machines cope with the leather.

The books such as :

 

all seem to suggest using a walking foot machine to be able to cope with french seams and heavy materials.

well nearly there :) only got some tidying up to do, so hopefully they will be done for ultimate dubs.

Little tip i picked up the other day but not sure it will apply to you or not is that if you are trimming onto the foam it can wear away at the back of the leather over time (foam is coarse) so you should put a layer of polyester inbetween (get this from an uphosterers)

Looking pretty good.

 

What I would recommend is that as the existing fabric will have stretched over time you need to make a new parts a bit smaller for a crease free fit.

 

Worked for an upholsterers for a year or so, the new seat covers where always a really tight fit - almost to point of ripping the stichting when you fit them.

well got them finished today :D i'm very pleased with the results, and thanks to everyone for the tips :thumb right:

 

the leather has yet to be wettened (is that a word??), and then heated up so some of the creases go away. but i think for a grand total of £28.50 i cant really complain.

well next on the list, is to dye the front recaro's the same colour as the rears. the leather dye kit has arrived :) so if i get time this weekend?? i should get them done. the kit came from.
