Your opinions on Subaru Impreza

Recommended Posts

I went to chester to pick up my mates new impreza series mcrae tonight, had to drive his escort van home  , When we got home he let me have a good Razz in it it I was impressed there was plenty of smooth power all the way up to 7 grand and little turbo lag id say it probably handled as well as my corrado but would naturally waste my 16v in every way, what about you G60 and VR6 lads what do you think of the impreza?

I love the Impreza.. fantastic shape, superb engine, and hailed by the motoring journo's as much as the Corrado was in its day. I'd love an Impreza any day :)

Admittedly there are a lot driven by people who don't really deserve them (thats not levelled at your mate btw - never met him!!) but you just can't not drool at special edition Scoobys.

An old lady at work drives an Impreza Terzo III - the classic blue with gold wheels, and a huge great spoiler on the back. Teamed with that Prodrive exhaust, when it rumbles past me I can't help but want that car!! :)

I've had (and loved) my C for 9 years and still enjoy a good "spirited" drive out very regularly on challenging routes. A few years ago I treated my G/F (and me ;) ) to a day at Rallydrive in their Impreza and my eyes were truly opened by tha capability of these 4WD rally slags. I'm currently saving to buy one (soon) and have been enjoying the very active "scene" surrounding ownership to gleam valuable knowlege. As good as the C is for a FWD car (still the best IMHO) it just can't compete against the likes of Scoobys and Evos. I went on a drive out a couple of weeks ago with some of the S.Yorks Scoobynetters and I had to throw in the towel after just a couple of miles. The woeful inadequacy of 2WD on wet, twisty, undulating, dark moorland roads was embarrassing to say the least. I have had my driving abilities assessed by professional rally drivers, the police and the IAM and have always acheived very satisfactory results, so it had to be the machinery creating the huge difference. Sad to say, but it's time to move on. I'll always look back fondly to my C, but I can't wait to get my hands on my new ride early next year.

For Sale (soon) C 1.8 16V met silver grey 17's Scorpion................

the new sti wrx making crazy power in exess of 300bhp,now that is awsome considering a 2.5l engine is used so less turbo lag. Wonder how much you can tune that thing  . The jap car market is so huge as long as you have a big ass wallet. These machines like the new sti evo8 are lethal and can consume most cars on the street in their price range. Later on i wanna taste bit of evo or sti

The new imprezas looks disgusting!!!! The mk1 looked the biz.

However wouldn't like to try and keep up with either, wasted big time!

I prefere the EVOs too, although either the V or VII dont really like the VIII, but that is just look, power and handling would be amazing.

Suppose I'm slightly biased - I have a long standing dislike of 4wd cars.

If I had to go Japanese again, I'd get another Nissan 300ZX twin turbo. Not the best handling car around but great fun to drive & plenty of power. Far more comfortable driving position than the Impreza as well.

I was driving along a short piece of dual carriage way in paisley(Hurlet road) minding my own business. This bad assed scooby  was soon on my tail back firing as he was slowing down, I dropped a couple of gears in the storm and lost him for a couple of milli seconds. We got stopped at a set of lights there was the customery nod of appreciation on both sides as the serious dual began. The STORM was away from the lights first :D and it was third gear before he got his ass in front of me as his dump valve was hissing away. The scooby has the obvious advantage with the 4wd and turbo in the twisty roads but you have to give it to the corrado its a beautiful piece of german design especially with that V6 under the bonnet.

I've drove a few Impreza's & have enjoyed the experience. I've drove two heavily modified ones, one import with apparently 380bhp. There is definetly turbo lag but once they catch, they really go. The handling was ok but was made better by the 4WD. As I said, I've drove a few but they all had some kind of modifications dome to there suspension, so its hard to compare like with like.

The Impreza's I drove were very rattley & had a gear change that felt like, stirring a pot of soup. The clutches are prone to breaking on the older Impreza's & as for the new STi Impreza... the RS Focus (which is a 2WD car) beat the STi round the Top Gear track. Yes it was in the dry but, Who races in the wet???

impreza is a good car.

The yanks get the 2.5 in the new STi but we dont.

Ive been in impreza's up to 400hp n thereis a vast difference between a standard one.

look out for

crank knock-full rebuild to fix.

gearbox issues- weak box. drops seals over 320hp if not careful.

handling is great though

take a look at jap-innovations.co.uk they are mates of mine n i doubt there is a c in the country that could match their cars for pace.

i got my exhaust for the corrado from them too

weent to well lane with them last week. one bloke pulled 533hp took 5 peeps in it to keep traction.

build quality isn't in vw league but repair bills are

The only impreza ive driven is a p1, in a nutshell it was stunning! the thing moved like there was no tommorow, but in my opinion the looks will never match a sorted corrado!!! its also five times more expensive (at least) and you dont look like a twat driving a corrado!!1

yeah the impreza pi is easily the best looking impreza, but they are a bit in yer face, no class, unlike a corrado!!!!

I agree, they do look like a heavily modded family saloon

They are great drivers cars pity about the build quality (windows rattle when you go over 80mph etc)

OK my windows rattle to when they are open but a scoobys does it when they are closed to plus the doors sound like a f reg micra's when you close them.

PS always liked the Evo myself
