Shaggy 0 Posted February 18, 2007 Nice vids! the Charged VRs sound soooo nice!! I was gunna post up my vid of me in the G60 having a play with a MK2 Charged VR! but as its not on a private road, you can clearly see my plate and the fact i was driving like a complete C**k i dont really wanna risk posting up the vid and getting caught lol! Was a bloody good laugh tho! didnt realise my Rado would have any chance of keeping up with a Charged VR ! i was pleasantly suprised my car gave it a bloody good run for its money! G60SC_Stoney 0 Posted February 18, 2007 yup, they are good fun, dont know if i'd send my vr6 all the way into the red tho, dont think a new engine after 45000 miles is a good start on VR ownership....
Chris VR6nos 0 Posted February 18, 2007 They rev easily to the red line and does no damage just likes being up there now and then, got to do that to show it who's the boss! Chris

eatthis 0 Posted February 18, 2007 yup, they are good fun, dont know if i'd send my vr6 all the way into the red tho, dont think a new engine after 45000 miles is a good start on VR ownership.... the rev limiter on the golf is 6400 afaik its 6700 on a rado mines 6800 iv been told 7k is fine lol and i dont go that high very often  (really dont need to  )

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 20, 2007 didnt realise my Rado would have any chance of keeping up with a Charged VR ! Your torque kicks in a lot earlier than a charged VR's does ;-) And besides, once you get to 250 brake, you need another 100 on top to make a convincing win. Look at any supercar stats and they're all within 10ths of a second, despite some of them having big power advantages over eachother. It is wrong to assume simply throwing a turbo or charger on a VR automatically makes you king of the road. Not the case. Getting the torque in the right rev band and the right amount of it is what wins races ;-)
Shaggy 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Just thought with that setup in a MK2 that it would easily walk over me? with it not weighing as much as the rado?? i ve never really been up against something like that, so was quite interesting for me...lol :)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 20, 2007 It's never really that clear cut unfortunately. There is a chance this MK2 Charged VR could have been running like a sack of schitt I suppose! The majority of them aren't intercooled, and that really kills the torque when the heat soak kicks in. Rados are heavy. I put mine on the weighbridge when it was Supercharged and it was 1320Kg unladen with half a tank! So yours did very well indeed, although G60s aren't quite as heavy as that tho!
