Another Rant From A Female Dubber.......

Recommended Posts

During the week I had to order some parts from the stealership for mine and peanut's dub. The guy on the phone talked to me like a human being and was fine and I arranged to pick them up today.

Went into the stealership with my other half. There was no one about on parts so we waited.

One of the guys on the service desks comes out, sees us both standing there and says "Hello Sir, can I help you?"

Am I fecking invisable or do they just not serve women! FFS! This really fecking fecked me off!

I was very good and didnt shout any abuse but it fecked me off!!

I've given up trying to get any recognition/respect from garages. I always try to get boyfriend to talk to/deal with them- not the way it should be but it's just easier that way

nooooooo you should talk to them and see the look on their faces when they can see you actually know your stuff!

I love telling guys when they are wrong about car stuff and putting them straight.

throughout the whole incident i remained silent, quietly counting down the seconds till a certain condascending service assistant left the building via the nearest window. All hail and bow down to the wrath of M15VW when she's got the hump!!!

I hate to play devils advocate, but............

To be fair, faced with two people they have to pick one.

Chances are if a couple were in a lingere shop the girl would get served first, is that not the same thing the other way round?

I spoke to the service manager of SEAT when I wanted my Ibiza serviced a while ago:

me: "I'd like to book my car in for a full service"

him: "It's not due for a service yet"

me: "I know, but I do a lot of mileage and I'd like an oil change, etc."

him: "It's not due for a service yet, you've got another 5k miles left"

me: "I KNOW, but I WANT a service as a do A LOT of mileage and WANT the oil changed"

him: But it's not due for a service yet"

me: "I've done 7000 miles in 4 months, I do a lot of miles, I'd like a full service PLEASE."

him: "You don't need a service yet..."

At that point, I was extremely close to punching the t0sser right between the eyes. I had a couple of other instances where he thought he knew best and spoke to me like a piece of crap because I was female...

I know exactly how you feel Nikki

Most of the muppets that work in the stealers are just that, muppets.

It is painful to sit there and watch them crawl through ETKA, let alone rise above the ancient and seriously out of date concept that all women know nothing about cars.

On a slightly different note, just called in at Halfrauds to pick up some more washing and polishing gear and was inordinately pleased that I saw one of the VW front of house staff from Listers Worcester getting into the scabbiest, most knackered Escort estate you ever saw out front. And not even into the driver's seat.

Given the characteristically rude, typical Listers attitude he demonstrated when I called in on Friday to the parts department, I felt a huge welling up of schadenfreude.

He also has the world's worst mullet.

Just thought I'd share and join in, sorry for taking over your rant M15 VW!

True, but then the garage would probably get complaints about the staff not being polite enough.

Right, so we went back this morning to get the parts that the guy didnt order for last saturday.

There was a female servicewoman there who asked BOTH OF US if she can helped, then informed the guy we saw before that there was a COUPLE here to see him........so that all went well.

The guy comes out with the other parts.

orginal list was....

vr6 headgasket set

2 oil filters for a vr6

2 sump plugs for a vr6

inlet manifold gaskets for a vr6

what we picked up on saturday...

vr6 headgasket set (minus the bolts!)

1 inlet manifold gasket

2 oil filters

2 sump plugs

what he came out with today...

8 head bolts for a 4 cylinder

1 inlet maifold gasket for a 4 cylinder

an o ring for a 4 cylinder

1 gasket for the throttle body for a 4 cylinder

He brought up ETKA to show us that there was only 1 inlet manifold gasket. Showed us a diagram and said "see, there is only one". We then pointed out that the diagram was NOT of a VR6!!

He then pulled up two more diagrams which were not of a VR6. Then finally got the right one.

So he then ordered the correct 2 gaskets for the inlet manifold for a VR6.

We got him to check the bolts, they were wrong, so he then ordered the set of 10 for a VR6. The o ring was wrong as was the gasket for the throttle body.

FFS! I mean he just clicked on "corrado" from the list! Didnt bother to look for the correct fecking engine!!

So we left rather p*ssed off witht he whole. My car is going in tomorrow to get the head gasket done! So we have to come back tomorrow to get the correct parts then take them to the garage on thursday (they are not starting work on it til thursday thank god!)

So we then looked at the other things we picked up on saturday.

The oil filters.......Nope not even those were for a VR6!!!! So I had to call just now to get them in for tomorrow aswell.

The only thing remaining on the list is the sump plugs. We dont know off the top of our heads if there is just one size for all sumps so we need to check that against the ones on my rado and on the mr's vr6 estate.

its this parts guys last day there today....Cant imagine why!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

:p
