Which Engine?

Recommended Posts

So quick update, I have had to take the car to an auto electrician as i have really lost myself in all those wires! It was a lot harder that i though. I have got the dash working completely, the only problem i have now is trying to bypass the Imobiliser! I have really ran out of ideas! but the engine bay looks so much tidier. the Battery is in the boot beside my Sub, but has been boxed away so it lookes nice. All sensors apart from ABS are working but again not to worry.

I will post pics of my handy work later tonight.

If your using std audi ecu you'll have to use the chipped key from the 3.2 audi

(or if like me gently prise open the flip key & winkle out the chip & put back in your old key)

Youll also need the matching speedo head unit, think there is a chip of sorts in there as well.

I used the corrado reader coil, key etc to keep the ign from the corrado, just swapped the chips over.

The clocks fitted quite nice, just cut off the plastic fixings on the mk4 speedo, defo alot better for the corrado, all I have to do is make up a speedo surround using a corrado front & extending to reach the mk4 clocks.

In hind sight it might of been easier to loose the mk4 speedo clear front?

The mk4 clocks are piece of pi$$ to wire up,the only thing im having trouble wire is this clutch switch(which keeps breaking ) & the fuel gauge which works arse backward to the corrado ones.

hahahaha, I think I have stuffed up here.

Ok so what do you think I should do, you have just confirmed my worst fear. I dont have the key from the Audi (I went back to the shop and he said he does not have any-which means I am buggered) I am going to see a couple of ECU specialists tomorow to see if they can help. But would like somesuggestions if anyone can help.

Will the clocks from any MK4 golf fit or do they have to be the R32 ones? I would prefer to keep the Corrado dials so it still looks standard but I know there are a lot of other lights and stuff on the Golf dash. Can you please post a pic of what your dials look like in the dash? Would really appreceiate it.

Many Thanks

Craig

Oh yeah I also forgot to mention, I need to do a lot of fabricating if i want the AC to work as the compressor just wont squeeze under there!!!!1

Another question, where did you put your oil cooler? Did you keep the one from the Golf, and leave it attached to the raditor? Just think it is a little low to the ground thats all.

Cheers again.

Hi guys sorry not been on here for a while. Well the front cross members have been refabricated as well as the front right arch to make room for the AC compressor as well as the routes for the AC piping. I have built a new rear engine mount for extra support to the engine, just incase :) Everything is all plumbed in now as well an my upgraded oil cooler and larger radiator.

TBH everything is almost complete, it is just a little hot just now yesterday it 47.4 C, so everything you touch melts your hand. It is just a little unconfortable, I have still to tackle the problem of the ECU, I think I am going to have to go with a stand alone system, so yet more costs!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I will take photos for you all tonight so you can see how things have progressed.

Thanks.

Ouch, that sounds like it's been a bit of a mission!

The only time I've been to Dubai was in the winter so it was 18 degrees  but a couple of guys from work have been out there around now when it's 50 in the shade. It's madness I tell ye! :D

Would be great to see some pictures of your AC install and new engine mount tho.

Well, what can I say.

All fabrication is complete, the engine is sitting in place perfectly, all parts work including the AC. I have just ordered an ECU from the guys at M-Tech Automotive (http://www.mtechautomotive.co.uk). They are building me a custom ECU with a custom map, and at an unbeilable cost. I just had to take the plunge and get it as the car is just sitting there gathering dust. It is so annoying having a car that you have invested so much money and hard work into, just sitting there laughing at you! But hopefully just a couple of days. I did promise to post pics but I kinda broke my camera on holiday.

A note to all whole are contemplating doing a project, make sure you know all the ins and outs first. Dont just dive in. Calculate all your costs. I am almost broke and the car is still not on the road. The funny thing is the issurance and annual registration has run out now and means more cost. hahahaha.

Anways cheers for the kick up the arse bigpants baby, I should have been updating you all.
