Hi All

Thought I'd say hello, just joined today, live South Manchester but originally from Chesterfield.

Bought my 1st Corrado last week 1992 2.0L 16v Aqua Blue 102K on the clock. Other soon to be previous car Mk3 Golf 1.6GL.

Very impressed so far (spend a large amount of my day staring out my office window at it). Been serviced (VW Specialist in Sale) and the results are

- O/S/R Caliber (handbreak mechanism siezed)

- Both rear shock absorbers leaking

- Brake compensator valve siezed

- O/S/R flexi brake pipe insecure

Possible MOT fail:

- Rear brake discs corroded

- front break discs worn

Advised:

- O/S/F wishbone bush worn slightly (do at next service)

- Exhaust system poor fit and mounts perished (but exhaust OK)

- Rear axle bushes perished

- brake fluid change

Going to get most of it sorted next week, as expected really for 15yr old motor. Anything to watch out for(apart from speed bumps!) / tips?

Cheers

Howdy mate.

Most of the things to watch out for are in your list, (apart from sunroof issues, but that's another story).

Think the rear axle bushes will be the biggest wallet stinger out of that lot, but well worth doing from what I've read.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Corrado ownership!

:thumbleft:

Welcome to the forum, good to hear of another rado in the northwest to look out for :)

(spend a large amount of my day staring out my office window at it).

That doesn't go away, I've had mine over two years now and it's a good job I can't see it from my office because I'd still spend all day looking at it

Will keep an eye out when over that way (most likely to be Sat pm around the hallowed turf of Saltergate)

Yeah, bodywork seems great.

Being done tomorrow by VW Specialist in Sale

- O/S/R Caliber (handbreak mechanism siezed)

- Both rear shock absorbers leaking

- Brake compensator valve siezed

- O/S/R flexi brake pipe insecure

- Exhaust being remounted

- Brake Fluid change

Then will be as good as new. Can't wait

Collected my car last night from Sale VW Specialist after having new shocks & handbrake and brake fluid change, all appeared well then a couple of minutes later, just on the M60 entry slip lane had a complete loss of power

Car would start but then die instantly :?

With a little help limped back to the garage by tying the throttle control switch ? open with some string that I had in the boot. Still didn't run smoothly though so that not the problem.

Not sure what is wrong and when I will get it back :(

Was still feeling chuffed that the garage had fitted VR6 Shock Absorbers at the same price as 16v ones as they coudn't get hold of any 16v shocks.

Problem diagnosed as most likey to be with Fuel Pressure Regulator and the Air Flow Meter.

Spent a good few hours (10+) trying to trace parts (£250 & £770 from vw (how can that be? grrr)) and have eventually got them both for £70 from a breakers down south somewhere - Stevens. Seemed really helpful, knew I could sub some Passat parts but managed to find them in a Corrado he had buried out back. Really helpful people.

Should arrive tomorrow then off to the garage and hopefully (everything crossed) back on the road. A week seems life a lifetime when its in the garage :(

Then off to Kwikfit / National Tyre to get the front alloys resealed and the exhaust remounted then trouble free motoring ahead :?

Cheers
