VR6 0 Posted July 16, 2007 Welcome aboard! Exterior forum is for when your door handles break and some old git in a Rover dents your door in a car park. Engine forum is for when it won't idle and constantly cuts out. Interior forum is for when your sunroof and heater matrix pack in or when you have a half gallon of water in the footwell or when your ignition switch decides that it's tired and doesn't want to work anymore. Drivertrain forum is for when your ABS light comes on or when the suspension is clunking. Wanted forum is where you can ask for all the bits you need. For sale forum is where you go when you're sick of it and want a newer/cheaper car, only to realise 6 months later that that's just no fun! Other than that, they're great. Enjoy. Car seems to be in amazing condition considering the age, really enjoyed the 250 mile trip back up the road last night 8) Only problem is the ABS light has been on a couple of times, is this normal? Best bet is to get it hooked up on VAG-com. If it's just comes on occasionally it's most likely just a dirty sensor. Spending cash that is, not Mr Cheeswire, i'm sure he's lovely :mrgreen: This is my 4th dub and I haven't spend too much on them (so far) due to insurance at my age but it is becoming mighty tempting, especially the uprated manifold that i'm told is essential. The last owner has every receipt from the last 7 years so one or two of them are into four figures! I'm sure it'll all be worth it though. I spent ten minutes yesterday with 'spoiler goes up...spoiler goes down...spoiler goes up... never going to get old :D So what were the first things you guys upgraded on your cars? Get an uprated headlight loom Lupo wipers (but very costly nowadays so I understand) Lower it, if it's running at tractor height There are some threads about cheap and essential mods - just have a flick through the search. antihero3000 0 Posted July 16, 2007 Ride height is surprisingly ok but i'll no doubt end up scaring speed bumps further down the line :afro: Wipers are useless though. Is it just the rubber or the whole mechanism that gets replaced with the lupo upgrade? I'll use the search tool and get to work with a couple of minor mods just now. Neil VR6 0 Posted July 16, 2007 The Lupo kit is just the arms and blades. It does improve things although part of the problem on mine was a sloppy linkage and a tired motor and/or wiring. Still, it acted as a good deterrant from going too quickly when it was raining :lol: The Lupo mod can also be done on the rear although it involves a blob of weld and shortening of the original arm 8) The uprated loom is sooo worth doing, not so bad in the summer when the evenings are long but it's essential in winter. Might be worth taking it to a specialist for a once over too, make sure there aren't any hidden nasties. Stealth isn't a million miles away from you. Going out on a nit picking mission tonight so i've got a worthwhile list of jobs for them on Friday. Meant to ask VR6, whats it like running a standard car again? Would you do all the work again?
