Unlucky mate, but as you do like to exercise your horses its probably best you have good tyres.

Although you probably wanted to go to the pod on slicks eh..?!

mate i know your pain, i just had a big argument about the rear axle bushes, i said to the garage to order the parts and do the work but i want to see the bushes before they take them out, and if there isn't anything wrong with them, they can show the MOT tester and put it all together again and i ain't paying a thing!!!

They did and low and behold, they were fine, just superficial stuff, managed to get it through the MOT in the end!

I think some have common sense and some are just idiots!

Whilst the guy was still doing the MOT he said i will show you what its failing on whilst it was on the ramps, so i go over with him and on the rear FK konigsport damper he shows me an apparently seal/silver washer type ring thing, he says its popped out of the strut and its damp (it had been raining here) so i say well whats the other side like which he had not checked yet, low and behold that side is the same, its "popped out" and its damp. he then back tracks saying if it was 1 side then its another tick in the failure sheet but as its both sides then he will give it the benefit of the doubt, so basically you dont know what your on about then eh, as if you would fail it for 1 side but you wont for 2 cos you dont know what your looking at.

Anybody know on these coilovers what the piece is that im on about, basically you have the strut body then where the thin silver damper leg comes out of the strut body there is a silver plate kind of thing sat there that moves freely, can spin it and move it up and down.

Well its now officially getting sorn'd again, im going to do a coxy i think, :D

Anybody know how big a part a rallye rear floor pan plays in the 4wd conversions, i know you can cut out the original corrado pan and just make your own but is it just a case the rallye item has a shallower spare wheel recess to allow more space for the rear diff or does the diff/anything else also use it for mounting anything?

Well if you would hate to have a car like mine then you really really dont want to be buying my engine, its always doing a gasket in somewhere along the lines, well i say always its done the gasket between the turbo and manifold and now the suspected manifold to head, i have added you Andy to MSN.

Anybody know an answer to my 4wd conversion.

You'll need the rallye/synchro floor and a rallye/synchro fuel tank IIRC, as well as the obvious stuff...

It literally will take me years to do but im going for it, definately this time its staying off the road till its the car i want, not bothered about Haldex as its more weight and i would need to do ABS and i doesnt fit in with the whole era of the car.

Looks like the Mrs will be needing a new car now, get rid of the old finance on hers and buy a cheap fun run around for us both, lets get a VR then :D

If worse comes to worse and i have to remove my engine, what specialist tools may i need, so far i know i need an engine crane but how about driveshafts etc.

Just waiting for my Irwin bolt grips to turn up mid week hopefully that may avoid the situation.

You need a spline tool for the drive shafts, and thats about it.... you can block the engine up and roll the shell back off the engine if you don't have a crane.

Ah yes came last night and the impossible bolt came right out instantly.

For the record those are bloody awesome, def should be in everybodies tool kit now before you get stuck.

Think the head still needs to come off though to check everything behind it.

Well after getting the head off and stripping it down of its 2 manifolds and finding the exhaust manifold had cracked and snapped where it bolts to the head on 1 of the lugs, and my exhaust housing on the turbo wastegate has also cracked i have now decided its finally time to put the 8vT to rest, she has served me very well over the last few years, we have had both our ups and downs too over the said few years but the fun along the way has been immense and far outweighs the lows that have happened.

So the new chapter begins...............to be continued..............

At some point when i find the time to strip out the block and box i will have for sale my :-

1900cc (1870), forged JE 83mm pistons, 20v/16v 144mm rods, standard crank, all lightened and balanced

Big Valve head, flowed/ported & polished, Piper 285 cam

R.I.P

As much as I've been winding you up about 16vt on messenger, this really was one of my favourite corrados. Can't wait to see what it is reincarnated as...

The corrado is dead, long live the corrado!
