CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted December 7, 2007 this is a lesson to those who run big turbo's = lots of heat no wrap or heat shield = bye bye.

Sonicriot13 0 Posted December 7, 2007 Two words. Insurance and fraud. You mean to tell me someone did all that stuff to their golf but forgot that exhaust gases get a little hot?
VAG-hag 0 Posted December 7, 2007 What is he doing with the extinguisher?? Why not get it on the orange burny stuff by the turbo in the early secs?? :?
CorradoRun 0 Posted December 7, 2007 thats why i have a fire extinguisher in my car !! and i think people should keep one in there car !
Bojmobile 0 Posted December 7, 2007 A wee extinguisher like that wouldn't cope with that fire though would it?
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted December 7, 2007 it started behind the dash, probably from the heat from the turbo via the "firewall" but the fire extingisher was to small and would have had no affect to the fire that started out of sight...
VAG-hag 0 Posted December 8, 2007 Surely the source is the turbo & thats the first place we see flames. The extinguisher is a bit small but if that was my precious metal id have a good go at putting it out. He just stands round, though I suppose not everything will have been cought on cam..... CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted December 8, 2007 yes he might have tried to put it out with no success off camera,I don't think there would have been flames to see,the radiant heat from the turbo can get extremely hot and could have stated to smoulder the cladding/sounddeading on the inside of the firewall that's why you see smoke from the vents and not the bonnet to start off with. Plus you got the sun and good hot weather over there that wont help. just noticed its snowing outside...
just_say_meth 0 Posted December 8, 2007 Thats gutting but trust the american fire dept. to put a car fire out with water :?
