Son of a Beesting 0 Posted February 13, 2008 Hi I am after a multi meter to help me fix problems with my bike, but would like one that I could use on any future bikes/cars etc. I am bit confussed with all the variety so does anyone have any recommendations? Any thing I should be looking for, any ranges which are useful? Thanks
davidwort 0 Posted February 13, 2008 I've found a Sykes Pickavant one great for the more complex stuff and a cheapo analogue maplin one for under a tenner useful for basic continuity tests etc. This is a pretty high up the range one, bit expensive tho: http://www.shacktools.com/sykespickavan ... -5587.html
Supercharged 2 Posted February 13, 2008 Get an old FLUKE off eBay - £30ish and they are bombproof!
Riley 0 Posted February 13, 2008 Ive got a gunson one available from halfords. Handy for small voltages right up to 500v stuff iirc, also has a handy little temperature sensor 8) and it obviously checks continuity etc. £15 quid i think it was. Neil. dr_mat 0 Posted February 13, 2008 If you're not a "power user" then the meters for a fiver from maplins will do the job.

Agreed, recently paid £8 for a Maplins jobbie, but its decent build quality, long leads, and a rubber protective case, should do everything you'll need (continuity, resistance, voltage, impedance etc) Can't fault it for the money...
