(including balance, etc.) This must have been about double the normal price, anyone? A year later he paid £254 for another pair. Guest Posted February 29, 2008 I have a simmilar bill for my golf VR6 for a previous owners plugs! when i bought it i got the same plugs from VW for £30, VW parts prices are quite steep especially if its a current model as soon as its a few years older a lot of servicing parts go in the TPS VW catalogue and become much better value, i bought Platinum spark plugs for my old Rallye golf when i worked for VW at cost price, that was about £3 a plug, if you came in to buy them off the street they were nearly £17 each!!! needless to say as i worked in the parts dept i used to give people some good deals :D as i knew how fleeced they were getting......and i didnt like the dealeship main boss! :lol: Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

They read off the list of parts they'd swapped to fix his central locking, gave him a bill for almost £600 and told him he'd have to book another visit to bring the car back in as it actually didn't work yet. davidwort 0 Posted March 4, 2008 to be fair it's a very 'dealer specific' thing, some VW owners have good things to say about their local dealers even on the older cars, it tends to be the bigger dealers with a big focus on sales that have poor service departments, but I know for a fact that if they keep their sales figues up high then they keep their franchises, almost regardless of service complaints against them. It depends on the dealers. My local VW dealers parts department are actually getting out and hitting the shows this year, desperate to bring back the enthusiasts that dealers of old would have turned away. My parts dept always gives me discount and will happily tackle any old laundry list of parts I want ordering! The same dealer has an older VW master technician working for them still who PREFERS working on older dubs (MK1's, etc) than he does the newer stuff.
