Mike Edwards 0 Posted November 27, 2003 The black VR6 is sulking at the local Bosch garage at the moment. It has: Fuel in each cylinder (injectors serviced); Spark in each cylinder (new coilpack, lead and plugs); Compression in each cylinder (all well within tolerance); No hint of ignition in cylinder 3 whatsoever. The garage have asked to borrow my copy of the Bently...
dr_mat 0 Posted November 27, 2003 "No hint of ignition in cylinder 3 whatsoever." Oh it *can*, it just doesn't WANT to. You know what these VWs are like...
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 27, 2003 Have you tried the coilpack and leads from your other VR6? And perhaps the ECU too? Kev
Mike Edwards 0 Posted November 28, 2003 Problem has been traced to the ECU. It's sequentially injecting fuel into cylinder number 3 at completely the wrong time... :?

Mike Edwards 0 Posted November 28, 2003 It isn't a problem that a reset will fix. A replacement ECU is one option, but then I'd have to remap it to suit the Shrick etc. The garage are going to go looking for dodgy connections tomorrow...

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 29, 2003 Sounds like it's a hardwire fault on the main board, prolly a dry joint. Kev
