Rubber Roof Strips

Recommended Posts

yet again, here's Kev to the rescue with another of his photo "how to" guides.... 8)

Nice Job as usual, Kev... 8)

I think you may have just prompted me to do mine... 24weeks standing in my back garden and the strips on my 'rado are looking a bit sorry for themselves... :?

Thanks guys....I always document things where possible. A legacy of writing training manuals for one of my old employers!

These strips can be a real pain in the butt. The nearside front clip just wouldn't go in for love-nor-money, so I ended up bonding it to the roof with sikaflex, not that you can really tell. The offside went in a peice of cake but *neither* rear clips lined up, so I had to trim 3mm off each end. You can't tell, but I just hate bodging things!

Ive tarted the ones on our one with Armour all wipes,

Indeed, the store at Inters hads loads of stuff.

I bought 2 trim strips for £31.50 each. They also had one of those G60 keys you see advertised on ebay for loads - cost £12!

I have some cousins in Germany. :D

I´ll phone them to ask the price there.

Can somebody give me the exactly VAG part-number for both sides please?

I assume that the strips are all the same for all Corrados...

As a rough guide, they are £35-£40 a side in the UK, from GPC.

Stocks of these sort of parts are apparently running short at VW Germany, so get em quick.

Ive clarted the G plater with trim sheen and its brought them back to life.

There is a little wear on the outer edge but the maguirs stuff seems to have smeared it and brought it back to life.
