dinkus 10 Posted June 8, 2008 Wow those pics really do show how bad it was before... but is it coming up ok with a bit of buffing action? :)
Riley 0 Posted June 8, 2008 Its coming up 'ok' considering mate... :) To be honest, it really is on the verge of needing a respray. Ill go over it with the heavy cut cleaner, maybe twice. And then the cleaner/polish, and then the pure polish a couple of times, then glaze, then wax. Will see how it comes up but im not really after an absolute mirror finish as its not what the car is about...I can't be arsed with worrying about every little mark etc like i do with the G60. It feels good to have sommet that i can put stuff on the roof of etc and not be bothered about it  :) Neil.
Riley 0 Posted June 8, 2008 Not sure what to do wheel wise... Do i keep those 17's and get the 1 damaged tyre replaced, or look for something more original looking...Thats what id like to do really. But ive half got my heart set on 17" bbs rc's? Neil.
junkie 0 Posted June 8, 2008 Well with Corrado's you def need to be following with your heart and not your head..

boost monkey 0 Posted June 9, 2008 Keep going Neil, it's looking awesome! Also, could you let me know the deal on back plates if you do get round to ordering them? Ta :salute:
Riley 0 Posted June 9, 2008 Sure mate, ordered them today 8) £2.80 each iirc so well worth getting from vw! I never realised the bbs rc's were still such an expensive wheel  so im probably not gonna bother i don't think, mayve some mint sebrings or sommet... Ive had a go at the bonnet using all the products earlier too... Heavy cut cleaner - cleaner/polish twice - pure polish - glaze...then smartwax. Its looking alright :) Thought id try sommet silly too, cheapest sign writing ever  Couldn't get a good piccy of it with the light, can just see it here... Riley 0 Posted June 11, 2008 New rear back plates, wheel bearings fitted, slider pins cleaned/regreased...And the brakes are looking a little safer now too! :D
boost monkey 0 Posted June 11, 2008 are those brass coloured things the back plates? The ones I pulled off my beam didn't look round at all
Riley 0 Posted June 11, 2008 Aye...well, i think they are reffered to as covers, they hug around the inside of the discs. :) Not back plates as in the larger ones that shield most of the disc...Tbh im not sure if it should have those or not, but didn't see any on etka. Neil.
Riley 0 Posted June 11, 2008 Just got back from nearly completing the heavy cut cleaner, crap pics! The scratch  in the original paint on the spoiler says "show car"
Riley 0 Posted June 17, 2008 Still waiting on new front discs/pads from ebay... Got some new genuine plugs, wd40'd the ecu/tci connections, cleaned all the earth leads up...And the misfire has totally dissapeared, quite a zippy throttle response now! Also bought a fuse box cover as it was missing... And the interior needs a good minting up so i whipped it out. As you can see, i need two door speaker covers as one is missing and one is painted silver! Neil.
Riley 0 Posted June 22, 2008 New zimmerman cross drilled front discs and mintex xtreme pads which look really good. New caliper carrier bolts too. So all new front/rear now. All the brakes front/rear sorted now then. Also scrubbed the carpet ready for when the seats/trim is all minted up. Carpet is minty now...no more dog hairs. Covered it in meguiars odour eater and closed the doors after vacuuming.
Riley 0 Posted June 23, 2008 Not much managed today... The rear bench got scrubbed, forgot pics of the back rests. From this: To this: And i minted some of the plastics and refitted them. Need a new gearknob, ive stuck my spare richbrook one out of the G60 in there for now. Neil.

Riley 0 Posted June 24, 2008  Thanks chaps... I was 1/2 born to modify, and 1/2 born to love standard minters like this... Removed the radiator earlier...Shame its leaking where the bracket holds it as the core is really tidy. :( Gonna see about having it fixed, see how much it is like. Tis very satisfying bringing it back to its former glory. 8) Neil. :)
Guest Posted June 24, 2008 Looks like its coming along nicely. (before i forget Neil i wont be needing that alternator)(it was my cam tensioner on its last legs)

dirtytorque 0 Posted June 25, 2008 Just a shame it's red huh Rob? Jim? :) red is both a blessing and a curse. Owners of red 15 year old cars know what i mean.
Riley 0 Posted June 25, 2008 Red is actually my favouriye colour :D This is a response i posted on another forum about red paint... The paint won't fade again mate Its a case of keep polishing, all the problems people have with faded paint are either because they just don't polish, or because they only use a wax. No wax anywhere in the world will be 100% efficient for 100% of the time its on the car as far as uva/uvb protection. If you are polishing and its not coming up, then it needs a little paint correction...and then you can keep on top from there 8) Neil.
