Andy665 0 Posted June 26, 2008 Been reading lots of very positive things about Zaino and been offered a good deal on one of their kits. Seems a bit fickle to surface prep and fiddly to apply but thats almost part of the fun. Anyone tried it on their Corrado?
millerman 0 Posted June 26, 2008 same here ive been reading up on the zaino products too looks like a good bit of kit what are you getting then as im gonna go the sealant route for the corrado rather than wax kel

yeti 0 Posted June 26, 2008 saw this thread earlier and thought... whats zaino... anyway, i was looking on the ukpassats site and came across this thread... http://www.ukpassats.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6688 might be some use, and the bloke seems to know his stuff!! Andy665 0 Posted June 27, 2008 As mine has single stage paint I'm thinking of the Z3 Finishing Kit - about £58.00 but seems like it will make my countless waxes redundant - just means stripping everything off and starting all over again. The bloke I'm talking to runs www.pro-detailing.co.uk and has been incredibly helpful
vwdeviant 0 Posted June 27, 2008 Andy, have a chat with Slangwerks on eD38 (also the Passat forum) very friendly and very helpful. Steered me away from the Megs plastic polish as it was "one of the two megs products I've ever bought that doesn't work" You'll find him hanging out in the detailing area! Jim 2 Posted June 27, 2008 Dodo Juice no longer this months cleaning product of choice then? :)
millerman 0 Posted June 27, 2008 a good forum to look at is http://www.detailingworld.co.uk you can gain loads of knowledge there it has helped me on all of my cars the only thing i dont like about zaino products is the length of time the products need to cure even when using the zfx which allows 3 layer in 24 hours if you dont have a garage or leanto or cover for the car with our weather i would want to do 3 coats in 2 hours but i still might try the z2 with zfx anyway over a period of a couple of days kel
Walesy 0 Posted June 27, 2008 Dodo Juice no longer this months cleaning product of choice then? :) Nah, i'm still using the bottle of turtle wax I bought in 1996 for £3.50 :smug:
Andy665 0 Posted June 27, 2008 Jim - I still love the Dodo Juice but always willing to try something different, Zaino will have to be very, very good to steer me away from Dodo :D
Jim 2 Posted June 27, 2008 I've bought some Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine this week - possible successor to Super Resin Polish which has always worked well for my car so worth a punt I reckon! Hopefully going to blitz the car with it tomorrow in time for the National Day!
Andy665 0 Posted June 27, 2008 Ordered the Zaino this evening. Going to be interesting to see how the results compare to wax - if its as good as I'm hoping the waxes for the Nugget will be up for sale :D but will probably keep the Saab and Passat waxes purely because I enjoy waxing and experimenting with different combinations
millerman 0 Posted June 27, 2008 would be very interested to see what you think from what ive read the glazes are really good and last far longer than waxing i think im going to try the megs polymer glaze first due to speed of drying . but i think glazes are a good winter choice as they last longer kel

UDS is better than SRP for finish but if you are planning on using EGP then it wont bond to it and you will just wipe it straight off again so best using a wax after UDS mate. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 29, 2008 i'm still using the bottle of turtle wax I bought in 1996 for £3.50 :smug: I've got a really old school "tin" of turtle wax from the 80s still :D I'm going to setup and Detailing Museum. A retrospective of the good old days of simply bunging something on the paint and rubbing it off again. Give it another 10 years and you'll be able to buy Detailing robots, which you can program to do all manner of anal cleaning and buffing tasks, and sit back and watch with a beer :D
