VAG-hag 0 Posted March 9, 2015 Brentacre are likely to be getting my business for the Turbo insurance. I really like their attitude and approach after speaking with 2 of thier guys this afternoon. I suggested an agreed value of £8k considering the engine, paint and the rest of the mods :) Now I just need my car back..... roll on next month!! VR6matty 0 Posted March 9, 2015 Great stuff, how much for the premium tho? :) I have tried em all but only seemed to get a decent offer from HIC/Adrian Flux I am less than £1 per bhp now :D
lilfuzzer 1 Posted March 9, 2015 Wow matty thats good I use brentacre too to be fair too as were very helpful and flix was trying to fleece me even though been with them for over ten years

Jim 2 Posted March 9, 2015 Great stuff, how much for the premium tho? :) I have tried em all but only seemed to get a decent offer from HIC/Adrian Flux I am less than £1 per bhp now :D Well congratulations on such a reasonable quote. That's really good! However it just goes to show what utter horse**** insurance is in this country. I actually got refused insurance from specialist insurers who even advertise on this very forum, on my VR because "it had modifications" (lowered a bit, and a remap - crazy I know) and "was not kept at the home address" (never mind it's in a locked garage, with access only via a very tall heavily locked gate) - and I only wanted to do 3,000 miles a year. I have no claims, no accidents, no endorsements... Yet you're able to insure a 400HP turbo Corrado with modifications adding up to thousands and thousands of pounds for It's infuriatingly stupid. That is ludicrous Jim, however I must admit when it was first turbo'd there was a few occasions where I was told there wasn't anything they could do. One or two of those I had even contacted prior to having it done! Like you say some of these specialist insurers are not worth the price of the phone call. I absolutely despise the whole industry primarily as there is no consistency in it whatsoever.
VAG-hag 0 Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) Great stuff, how much for the premium tho? :) I have tried em all but only seemed to get a decent offer from HIC/Adrian Flux I am less than £1 per bhp now :D So far the best price is £450 with brentacre which I thought very reasonable and £100 less than hic. The approach was much better too. I may call flux just to see what they say. My original target was £500 but may have to get inline with you Matt. :) Edited March 10, 2015 by VAG-hag
VAG-hag 0 Posted March 10, 2015 Jim that is crazy! Would a classic policy suit your needs? Classic line were great to deal with when car was na but with other mods.

But I was a bit younger then :) it's steadily come down year on year. You will need to keep going less than 350 is your new target
VAG-hag 0 Posted March 10, 2015 It cost 350 without the turbo mate so I thought 500 was a fair target! Other factors are car is kept away from home. The benefits of living in leafy Surrey eh? ;)
VAG-hag 0 Posted March 10, 2015 Or I could ask for 450bhp.... Therefore £1 per bhp to insure:)
Jim 2 Posted March 10, 2015 It was a classic policy I was trying to get! I should ring Classic Line - have used them before. Got a reasonable price from Peter D James of about £250..
VAG-hag 0 Posted March 10, 2015 £250 sounds good!

Give it a couple of years of good clean turbo fun and it will come even lower hopefully. mmm 450Bhp now there is a recipe for a new engine/gearbox :) cant hurt can it?
