joby 0 Posted October 26, 2008 Mot stations! Dont you just love them  The corrado failed yesterday on my tinted rear lights not showing enough amber light for indicators, I know its my own fault for spraying them, But the amount of money i have spent on the car this year doing all the suspension and all the bushes, bearings, G60 brakes, Underneath is totally renewed and he still tried to say there was play in the top mounts  There brand new, It Pi :censored: es me off when you see all these young lads driving around in heaps of sh*t, A young lad i know always has a laugh at me when my corrado fails and his m reg Rot ridden escort passes without any problems.... Arghhhh, Rant over  Anyway has anybody got any rear lenses for sale cheap, Just to get me through the mot and then im going to put the others back on... boost monkey 0 Posted October 26, 2008 if you don't torque the front suspension top nuts up properly there will be play in the top mounts, regardless of age.
joby 0 Posted October 26, 2008 Everything was rebuilt with mostly genuine parts and torqued up to the correct settings
boost monkey 0 Posted October 26, 2008 you could strip the paint back a bit and then retint after the test perhaps?

Sonicriot13 0 Posted October 26, 2008 Role on next April when I have my MOT. I'm dreading it already even though I'll be getting a mate to do mine....
Timbo 0 Posted October 26, 2008 My car should have failed its MOT (broken ABS, no rear number plate light, rear axle bushes, rear wheel bearings), but the guy I get to do it is reasonable and realises that I'm going to want to do the work myself anyway. If you can't find a pragmatic tester maybe this is worth a shot: http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/the_p ... 662706.stm . Haven't tried it myself, but if my guy shuts up shop I might. plateletboy 0 Posted October 27, 2008 MOT garages are always moaning about the play in these style top mounts when the weight is off the wheels......... Its my pet hate, and i just don't understand how there can't be any play, given that the top plate would rub when steering L to R if there was no gap..?!?!? The cars weight holds the mount snuggly in the strut tower, and the very top plate just stops the strut dropping when jacked..?? What do VW do when a car they know has brand new top mounts fitted comes back after failing an MOTfor top mount play..?? Stick another new pair in...??? Has anyone even spoken to "The ministry" about this annoying issue and the way they are tested...?? pb
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted October 27, 2008 It comes up as a know issue when you log onto the test,so that tester is a idiot.
Danny B 0 Posted October 27, 2008 I have a round trip of nearly 80 miles to get to my garage whom I trust to do all my work aswell as MOT's......a good garage is hard to find unfortunatly !! Most people think I'm mad but it gives me piece of mind and also means I get to drive the C more :D !! I found my garage on here so maybe put a post up for good garages in your area.....you never know
