Ice White Socks 0 Posted December 11, 2003 Hi, I have read a couple of people on this forum struggling to get OE mats from VW. My local stealer is convinced he can get either black or platinum carpet mats but they are £60 a pop   Has anyone got these in their car, if so are they worth that much money. Any pictures of them would be even better .... Cheers Mike
Jim 2 Posted December 11, 2003 Well if you want them simply because they are genuine VW items, and you are trying to keep a purely OE look in your car then go for it. But if on the other hand you don't want over priced / poor quality pap then I would reccommend that you look elsewhere. I saw some pictures on eBay of what I *thought* were genuine VW mats so I went to the stealer and ordered some. £56 and a few days later, and I was rewarded with some very very thin carpet (with foam backing) and Corrado lettering printed onto the mats. The pictures I had seen were very thick looking pieces with the Corrado lettering sewn into the mats. Ho hum. Avoid and take your money else where. VR6 South 0 Posted December 11, 2003 Sorry no pics but worth the money IMHO. :) Don't forget your discount
Jim 2 Posted December 11, 2003 You must have got different mats to me mate!
VR6 South 0 Posted December 11, 2003 There are some MJ ones :) on ebay, might prove my point
Supercharged 2 Posted December 11, 2003 Hmmm... I agree with Jim, I got some for £50 and there ok but don't know why there foam backed as the golf ones arn't! - I like the fact there original and have the logo's but my mate paid the same price for some for his 206 from the pug dealer and they are far thicker and better quality. Next time I would get some tailored ones from a show (£25) and maybe spray the logo on....
vr6storm 0 Posted December 11, 2003 also in agreement with jim........i've had my mats now for just over 2 years and they are pretty much wrecked(well the driver's one)...in that most of the foam backing has disintegrated away

Bally 0 Posted December 12, 2003 I asked my local VW dlr, the mats are just under £60... on my crimbo pressie list :D
joebrent 0 Posted December 12, 2003 my local dealer told me that he couldnt get them anymore?? if i told him that a dealer near ''Ice White Socks'' has some can he get them from there??
GRINGOG60 0 Posted December 12, 2003 Apart from thr foam backing i think there preety well made- ive had my ones for quite a while now and there is no sign of any wear- the foa backing only disintergrates if the mats arnt properly secured using the carpet hooks and are aloud to move around. I think there preety good but it is obviusly possible to get better quality ones.
vr6storm 0 Posted December 12, 2003 my local dealer told me that he couldnt get them anymore?? if i told him that a dealer near ''Ice White Socks'' has some can he get them from there?? they should managed that no problem......providing of course you pay them a delivery charge....£10 or something silly like that
Ice White Socks 0 Posted December 12, 2003 Joe, My dealer is sourcing them from the main UK parts distribution place (Milton Keynes?) he is sure he can get them- which means that any other dealer can get hold of them as well- maybe he meant they werent in stock in his own stores? It sounds like mixed reviews on the carpets then :( . I remember one of the guys here saying he had a custom storm set made from justmatz :? Would be interesting to see what they were like. I'll get some ordered anyway- if you still have problems Joe, let me know and I guess my local stealer can post them down to you :D Cheers
CazzaVR 0 Posted December 12, 2003 Pretty sure they're still available, although I think someone keeps buying loads to sell on ebay   The old VW mats had the embroidered Corrado logo, whereas the newer VW replacements have the logo printed on, and like Jim says pretty poor for the money! :(
Bally 0 Posted December 12, 2003 Yeap VAG HQ is based in MK along with there distribution centres...
Pete 0 Posted December 12, 2003 I had the Corrado mats in my car and they are not the best. OK if you have them but for the money I would get a good set from Halfords!!!
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted December 12, 2003 My car came with black OE 'Corrado' mats (the ones that clip to the floor) and they're still in excellent shape. No appreciable wear to speak of. I wouldn't normally bother with mats but as they came with the car....... K
jedi-knight83 0 Posted December 12, 2003 I bought some corrado carpet mats from ECP for about £20. The drivers side is fitted to the C's footwell and it seems to be made of of strong enough stuff...but for £20 there a bargin!!! the drivers side does have a poxey crappy cheap "corrado" badge but that can just "pop" right off and you got yourself 4 nice black carpet mats :D im please

Fat Tony 0 Posted December 21, 2003 I have the VAG items in mine and the drivers side is just a mess. MJ do a custom set for 70 quid and just mats do them for a less with logo so think I will give these a bash as the dealer items just are not worth it will post a pic of the driver side if you want. Not proud of the fact they are in my car
joebrent 0 Posted December 21, 2003 i went to the mph 03 show at earls court, justmatz had a stand so i orered some,£35 and there custom made, any colour any logo! the ones that had on display looked really good, they specialise in vw and they had a really nice mk4 golf at the show as well
vr6storm 0 Posted December 21, 2003 there's also in the back pages of the past 2 weeks autocar an advert for a company that do custom tailored mats with your own logo on them........but for the life of me i can't remember   the web-site that they have or the name...........something along the lines of "design mats 4u"
