mrbeige 0 Posted January 10, 2009 I've used them a few times for the odd part here and there. Always had excellent service and advice over the phone :)
shawshankkid 1 Posted January 10, 2009 One of the best companies in the country for the Corrado....steve or (crasher) who also does Golf plus magazine articles, among others.........quite expensive but brilliant service....plus they will also give you a defect sheet as long as your arm with things that need sorting. very highly regarded. yalan 0 Posted January 11, 2009 Yup - very good & thorough. Good places are never cheap but I'd not go as far as to say they're overly expensive either for what the offer. Used to have them look after my Gti when at university in Nottingham in '96. Still buying parts from them now!
bruny 0 Posted January 12, 2009 Good bunch, they know their VW's,and good service, recommended :D
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 12, 2009 Just as with Vince at Stealth, providing you get Steve Cresswell (the "C" in C&R) himself working on your car, they are good. He's very thorough and hates bodges with a passion. Used to go there myself in the late 90s, but got fed up with the other mechnics telling me I needed new big ends every time I went there. Jay2 0 Posted January 12, 2009 Used them in the past mate, only problem with Steve is that he is a perfectionist so you will end up with a 'to do' sheet three pages long and come away thinking your car is a pile of sh*te. Oh and the labour charges are on the high side and you do get charged for everything, part of my final invoice included a charge of 45p for the use of emery paper! But they do know there stuff. Supercharged 2 Posted January 12, 2009 Yep, one of the best specialists out there and very good mail order supplier... Steve really knows his stuff and dosn't mind spending time on the phone with people for advice etc. Re the comment above about charging for everything - most properly run (profitable) garages will do this, it's simply just good business practice! yeti 0 Posted January 12, 2009 Unfortunately not a good story but took 8weeks to get me a full set of goodrich brake hoses when i was told they were on the shelf and the service when sketchy. they then sent the wrong ones and when sent back didnt refund the postage. Maybe they are better in person

But they do know there stuff. i concur, I've had a few demoralisingly long "to do" lists presented to me on completion of work. I have to say tho that I'd rather know than find out when it's too late. It seems like good genuine advice if you speak to Steve, John or Roy. I can't fault their technical knowledge, though I'm no technical expert. I personally would recommend them but only if you are made of money and / or a bit of a perfectionist :)
