corozin 0 Posted January 21, 2009 The problem is too many of these young kids have watched The fast and the Furious and now think a Civic is a kickass-quick car. It just ain't so... There are very, very few standard Escort Cossies out there any more, and the few that are about not only make absolutely epic money when they come up for sale, but are being bought by collectors rather than enthusiasts. Think £17k-£25k for a nice one. Personally I prefer the noise and delivery of a VR6, even if it's not as quick.
KipVR 1 Posted January 21, 2009 At the end of the day, it's still a Ford, and that spoiler is :pukeright:
MonkeyVR6 0 Posted January 21, 2009 To be honest, I don't think the kids in the Vtec had anything stupid planned, I did the same thing recently with an Audi R8, just because I wanted to see him hit the gas :luvlove:
The_Dude 0 Posted January 21, 2009 The good thing about having a powerful car is pootling along until some muppet in a Fiesta tries to take you on...then its down a couple of gears, on the gas and watch him get smaller in the rear view mirror. 8) That's why the Cossie hoofed off! yeti 0 Posted January 21, 2009 i laughed more at some of the chavy comments :-) love cossies though glad to see a civic be brought down a peg or 2!
corozin 0 Posted January 21, 2009 At the end of the day, it's still a Ford, and that spoiler is :pukeright: I have to admit that insofar as my own personal "cool-wall" is concerned modified Escort Cossies are grouped over on the left hand side with all the other common chavvy, max-power rubbish. However there is something about the Escort /Sierra Cosworth (not Sapphire), in alpine white, unmodified with it's whale-tail which is now just a piece of magic and is on the right hand side of my wall along with the really cool & desirable motors. I admit there was a time when they were awful, but that has long-since changed. In fact I almost challenge anyone who has actually seen a standard, original Cossie recently (especially in white and on original wheels) to not be impressed with them all over again. There was such an Escort-Cos at the Castle Combe rallyday last September and I was just blown away by it. The RS Owner's Club are also a really excellent and enthusiastic bunch with a great club. Adz The Rat 0 Posted January 21, 2009 I would love an Escort Cossie, one day maybe. I know a lad who has a Monte edition, its stunning and has had a very large amount of cash spent on it! Recently timed at 3.9 to 60mph haha
KipVR 1 Posted January 21, 2009 i laughed more at some of the chavy comments :-) love cossies though glad to see a civic be brought down a peg or 2! A freind of mine used to have a K reg vti (160bhp-1080kg =148 bhp/ton), that was as fast as my corrado (193bhp-1237kg =156bhp/ton). A corrado isn't far off the same speed as a standard Escort Cosworth once it's moving (227bhp 1304kg-176bhp/ton). The 4wd transmission takes a lot of the power out, not the full difference though. If it was an even match, ie both were modified rather than just the one, the civic would win hands down in the dry. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=E_wNp8rct6s

Very satisfying that :D You have to be careful fiesta man doesn't get the last laugh by watching you get pulled over by the old fuzz though!! On the subject of Cossies, I love em. So much so I read Fast Ford every month, LOL! My fave is the Swiss spec (Picnic bench deleted) Escort in dark green/blue on standard rims, or 17" Azev A 8)
Jim 2 Posted January 22, 2009 One reason why I've always wanted your Corrado, Kev.. with that kind of performance there is very little that could touch you if you tickled the loud pedal. Lost count of the idiots that have done stupid moves like overtaking in heavy traffic or cutting me up and the poor old weedy 2.0 16v is just too gutless to fight back and make a point! Didnt believe them at first them they pulled out a photo album... amazing! And i guess insurance'd be the same as trying to insure a new evo nowadays. O and i love the spoiler :camp:

Stick a turbo on it Jim :D It is nice having a goodly amount of grunt. At best you can leave nearly everything and at worst, you'll give something exotic a hard time and surprise them. That's the whole appeal of street sleepers :D The great thing about Corrados is they are still relatively unknown. If people see a MK2 Golf pull away rapidly, they assume it's had a 1.8T or R32 conversion. But if a plain, unbadged Corrado with a skinny, silent tailpipe pulls away rapidly, they're not so sure what's going on! Mine's nothing like as powerful as the big league cars though, but it's still enough to have fun with :D any videos of your car Kev? can't say i know much about it I haven't done any vids myself. Not really into all that self promotion lark tbh. Try a YouTube search on "Corrado VR6 Turbo" as I think GVK videoed mine on the rollers a year or so ago. Nothing too exciting though as it's very subtle!
