cheap corrados

Recommended Posts

Why are corrados so cheap these days :( It does my head in to see old RS Turbos going for stupid money and even cavalier sri`s and old astra GTE`s from the 80`s fetching £2500  Certainly not worth buying one as an investment now! People even say to me that prices are silly cheap on them now :cuckoo: Rant over

I think most people just see them as an expensive to run unreliable old car at the minute. Give it a few more years and I think the prices will start to appreciate.

There's still quite a few Corrados about is the thing... most of the old Cav's and Assy's will have been run into the ground, rusted to beggary or written off by now, leaving only the really well looked after examples.

That's what I think anyway, plus, 5-10 years ago those cars were worth feck all (well maybe not the RS).

Last year someone followed me to the garage and offered me £6k for mine, after i told him the mileage and only two previous owners. so its not all doom & gloom. Actually he WANTED an auto, with leather and aircon and there are not so many around.

Plus some of the cars on the forum are very tidy indeed so its worth asking a good price if you feel your car is worth it. There are people who will buy them at even higher prices.

there's some pretty tired rusty old Corrados knocking around now, if you took two cars, a tidy well cared for C with good bodywork and some of the tatty sheds I've seen about, then for the same age car of the same model 2 or 3 grand is definitely a sensible price difference between them.

A rusty tatty valver is only worth what it can be sold for in bits and a VR could well cost you 2 or 3 grand for an engine rebuild on top of 1-2 grand for a respray,

you pays your money...

That's all they're worth! Even more so in the current climate.

You think Corrado fans feel short changed, spare a thought for the E39 M5 guys!!. £50K car new in circa 2000, now you can get one for £5K and it's a MILES better car than a Corrado!

Escort RST's have always fetched decent money, very very few standard ones left now.

As for Astra GTE's, hardly any of these things knocking around, not seen a mk1 for years!

Corrado's will be going up in value when we start seeing less and less of them on the road. They made 380,000 Karman Ghias and 35 years after the last one rolled out, they are seriously collectable and seriously hard to find. How many Corrado's did they make? Less than 100,000 I think. I think the stockers will ultimately be worth more, the band of potential buyers narrows with each modification. All IMHO.

Exact spec of my car! Only mod is the magnex exhaust and it shall be staying that way too most probably. It is a case of supply and demand though, and look at cars like Kip's. Cant see that going for low daft money anytime soon.
