yeti 0 Posted April 7, 2009 hello mate, i'm 6'5" so understand the problem! i have got carbon fibre buckets for mine and after messing around with subframes have decided that a direct fix to the floor with bolts through the recaro side mounts is the only way. The problem is that your head will hit the roof with most aftermarket buckets and subframes as they tend to be for golf or corrado and be non height adjustable Also setting the seats so you can actually drive the beastie without your knees touching the wheel means that the back of the seat is almost touching the rear seat heel boards! So my advice if your starting to think about things is how much adjustablitiy do you need? if your the only one drving the car and dont mind a spot of welding/drilling then direct fix is easiest! Neil VR6 0 Posted April 7, 2009 Having sat in and driven a few cars now I think the standard Corrado leather seats are about the most comfortable seats to be in of any car!
yeti 0 Posted April 7, 2009 Having sat in and driven a few cars now I think the standard Corrado leather seats are about the most comfortable seats to be in of any car! yep they are a nice seat, but not the most supportive when doing enthusiastic driving! also they weigh a ton compared to lightweight buckets only real need for new seats for me was i wanted to remain in the seat when playing at high speed! davidwort 0 Posted April 7, 2009 the nicest seats I've seen in the C are Recaros in various flavours, you certainly used to be able to buy them new as a separate individual item, they have much bigger bolsters than the fairly good standrd VW ones, a brand new pair would be spot on IMO. super 0 Posted April 7, 2009 anyone suggest where I can source some seats? still not decided which route to go down....nice OEM recaros or some full on buckets!
yeti 0 Posted April 7, 2009 anyone suggest where I can source some seats? still not decided which route to go down....nice OEM recaros or some full on buckets! well my vote is for oem plus style buckets... the recaro spg was used in the lightweight bugatti eb110 special back in the early/mid 90's and these carbon and leather versions by border (recaro dont make carbon fibre ones but border are a tiwanese motorsports company supplying lots of asian gt racing teams) weigh in at 2-3kg or less and look the nuts in my eyes! heres them trial fitted in my C before i tore her apart! they also do a carbon version of the recaro pole position which they fitted in the mk1 lightweight TT Quattro Sport which are a bit wider and motorsport approved think! mclarenf1l 0 Posted April 12, 2009 Those are the seats that I want. I am taking the weight reduction route on mine and would like to have some CF seats in mine but i want them to be reclining. Has anyone had any experience with F1 spec seats? http://www.f1spec.com/spr1rebuse.html They seem to cheap to be good.
junkie 0 Posted April 12, 2009 The best seats i have had in the Corrado so far are the Corrado Recaro's but having sold them to go proper lightweight buckets. Now if i wanted comfyness i would stay Recaro as they really are sublime to sit in, but as im ripping it all out i am not bothered about comfyness. rolex 0 Posted April 19, 2009 Are the mk4 golf recaros too wide for the corrado?
