What Rado cant make up my mind.

I'm shore the right engine will jump out at me once I've driven them all.

 

It'll probably be more like the right car will jump out at you when you drive a few...

 

Stop running 16vs down... I'd never sell mine!

If I did get insuredon on a vr6 it will cost me an arm and a leg.

 

I think I'm going to give each car a drive and take it from there.

 

So who wants to let me drive there car :D haha I've got fully comp insurance hahahah

Not if he has any No claims bonus, I'm 20 soon to be 21 with 3 years no claims and the insurance on my Vr is pretty acceptable considering the car, still not saying its cheap lol but its not soo bad that it makes you want to kill youself

I was 25 when I got my VR, 2 years no claims. £1250

How much is 'pretty acceptable'? Bet it's not far off £1,500 if you're fully comp, which I'm pretty sure they would insist on....

Well i had a TPFT policy on a Polo for 10months(accelerator policy earns my now claims quicker :D) which cost £350, 6 weeks into the policy i changed it over to my Vr and they wanted another 320 for the remaining 8months and 2 weeks, but i am tempted to phone up and change it to fully comp but i'm not sure how much they would even give me for my car if i did write it off

i would try hard for a vr6, never need a new car again... im still like a little boy driving around in mine and i have had it a year :D

 

parts, petrol and insurance might be a little more (even the car will be) but you will get what you pay for, and you sound like you are going to keep it forever like me so why not go for a nice vr?? i would be happy to take you for a ride in mine, i live in east england, bedforshire if your near me??? Its having some work in the garage at the min though, see the link below.....

2.0 16v all the way!

 

Despite what the VR-boys say, they are economical if you are pootling about, they just start drinking heavily over 4000rpm... I average about 30MPG which considering a lot of that's done in E-London in traffic... as well as blatting up M11/25 ... isn't really too bad! I can see an average of 35-6MPG on a run from London, through traffic and then up the "Private test track" (ave 80-90) to club and back.

 

And with the 15l tank I see between 350-400 miles,

 

The least return I've seen from a Tank in mixed driving, London/M-way/Spirited post 4k driving, has been just over 300miles.

 

 

As for insurance, who the hell pays out a decent wedge for a good Rado then only insures it TPFT? :cuckoo:

never insure tpft!!! fully comp all the way... i should kno haha

 

If your not doin stop start journeys, you will still get 30mpg out a vr, plus you got the power to overtake someone in a flash!!! would rip apart a standard valver and the vr's sound amazing!!! the reason everyone that owns a vr6 says get one is coz they are the bollox, TRUST!!! everytime i put my foot down i cant help but smile!!! will be getting mine supercharged later this year, god knows what face i will be pullin then haha...

 

I had a 1.8 valver, nice car, but the vr pisses all over it in my opinion... the whole time i owned it i wanted a vr6, so if you can afford it buy one now, why wait?? buy it love it!!!

Buy a vr - never had a 16v corrado but had/have a 2.0 8v mk3 and have driven 2.0 16v mk3's and i would pick the noise of the vr everytime. If using it alot - 40ish mile commute for example then i'd get 27-30mpg, town... 21

 

I bought my vr at 20/21 and pretty sure i was paying about £2500 f/c for 5000 miles a year no mods in a rural village but i'd had an accident a little over a year previous that cost the insurance company £1k to fix the other blokes car so as long as you have a clean license and some ncb then a vr wont be too bad to insure

Well I think I'm going to try and test drive each model and see which one I like the most, then go on these comparison websites and find out how much each of them will be to insure.

 

My drive to work is 90% A roads with the last 10% being stop and go/crawling traffic ( on the way back its just a straight run home) and its round about 40 miles there and back.

i'd really save the bother of doing the ring around mate and call martin (martinb on here) at HIC insurance, they are a broker who specialise in modified cars and he until recently owned a very nice modified nugget Corrado and always tries to find you the best deal. Also brentacre and a few others have been mentioned on here

 

why would you want a r32 lump in it if you have a vr6??? anyone??? :confused4:

 

VR6 - most need rebuild/chains/clutch/ancilleries changed before increasing the power and that can be easily over £1k so decided seeign as things were not as i'd like them - bit old a crusty for my liking i'd strip it out and then go from a v useful 200bhp fwd car to a newer quicker engine as standard that'll be easily over 300+ bhp n/a and 4wd when i've completed stage one (and if its what i want in a car i'll considder stage 2! :nuts: )

my advice would be look for any corrado as far under the 100k mile mark as you can afford.

 

i bought my corrado 1.816v at 130k and have had to replace nearly everything serviceable on the car, i'm sure a vr6 would be the same.

 

saying that, you could buy a higher miler thats had everything replaced already. (like a forum members)

 

don't discount the 16valvers if their good ones, they have just as good feel good factor, and the performance is still decent, think golf gti compared to r32.

 

personally I prefer the interior and the front end from the early cars, much sharper. :roll:

VRs don't drive as nicely as the 4 cylinder varients, far more nose heavy.

Yup, think you're right, valvers are quality to drive, but the first time a VR goes past he'll wish he had one.

its not only a VR going past fast, its the noise it makes....

 

which brings me back to the r32, i havent drove one or even heard one screaming past to be honest, can they sound as nice as the vr's?? bearing in mind mine is a straight de cat pipe with stainless manifold...?? thats half the fun when it opens up and starts growling at the poor chap on his bicycle haha...

 

i am interested because like everyone i want MORE power, i am thinking of supercharging mine at stealth racing later this year, but its all going to cost money!!
