nothing serious really thanks, a few bits here and there. Gear linkage was melting on the exhaust :shock: got a oil leak where the chains are, they are being replaced anyway!! then theere stuff with the camber and the steering, oh and a bent track rod :shock: put some new tyres on the front... and some idling adjustments to

 

but its going back soon, got BIG plans for it :D

Hoping this is the right place to drop a post in about DG Autotech.

 

By far the best thing that's happened in my time owning Veedubs is Dave and Graham opening up a dedicated, friendly, expert and welcoming independent VW (and others) specialist and right in my neck of the woods to boot. Lucky or what...

 

For anyone wondering where to take their Veedub for totally professional, expert work delivered by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts, for me there would be no contest. I knew both the gents from this forum before, particularly Dave, but that notwithstanding, they were able to slot in my VR which had developed an unusual droning noise at pretty much zero notice, keep it in the workshop around their booked in jobs for as long as it took to get the part in for a shot wheel bearing and fit it where they could find time. This was no mean feat as my low-mileage VR with the strong engine suffers from a severe case of seized up suspension components and was a proper pig to sort.

 

It'll be going back soon for some proper booked in time to have new life breathed into the suspension and the track rod ends finally undone after years of being well frozen up but I really can't thank them both enough for finding the time to fit the other job in, despite being busy with the jobs of customers who'd booked their time in.

 

In this uncertain world of running ageing but headturning cars, where the next big bill or maddening problem could be just around the corner, I can't put into words what peace of mind I will now draw from having exactly what any Corrado (never mind VAG/Seat etc) owner could want, right on my doorstep. It's exactly what the website proclaims: somewhere where you take your car to be serviced, not as an ordeal to be negotiated but as a genuine pleasure, as two such friendly chaps will make you so welcome...and also allow you to have a look round the facilities like a kid in a sweetshop...beware the "shiny" cupboard and its wallet seducing Siren call...

 

Carlsberg don't make VW specialist centres, but if they did, they'd still not manage one that fits the bill like that.

They done a great job on my C when it went for a service and will defo be going back for bigger jobs :D

I'll third this, an excellent round up of their services although believe me, Graham was aiming a few choice words at your car's 'rusty nuts' at the weekend :lol: but eventually got them apart even whilst being interupted by me asking which end of the spanner was which :camp: . Thats a tidy replacement car you've got hold of there from what i saw of it!

LOL I had a bit of a mare last week with corrado suspension ie 2 x snapped wishbone bolts both took about 4 hours to get out!

 

But its worth it when there all set up and handling properly :D

4’thd! Lol. Well where do I start. I had a few problems that led me to needing to have the gearbox off my car. The car had covered 110k so thought whilst this was happening I may as well get the chains done. After speaking to Kip I thought it was worth giving DG a call after he had nothing but good things to say about them (and I think we all know Kip’s high standards)! Anyway after a first 15 minute initial phonecall I was very impressed with Dave and how professional and helpful he seemed. Booked the car in and they have done the chains and done front and rear bushes amongst a few other jobs, and the service and work is first class. We went down yesterday afternoon to pick the car up and spent nearly 3 hours there chatting away (and generally annoying them both I think :) ), Dave also took me out in his monster turbo’d vr which is awesome!

 

I would thoroughly recommend them for any work you need doing, Dave has been sending me emails with loads of pictures on and keeping me up to date on the progress (above and beyond but appreciated non the less). Nothing seems too much trouble and has been said before it is enthusiasts doing the work and it shows. They are over a 100 miles from where I live but I wouldn’t hesitate in using them again in the future. The only problem with them is the distance they are from me. If your lucky you’ll get to meet Jack and a nice brew too!

 

Sorry again about all the seized bolts and me hassling you all the time, and many thanks again Dave and Graham, top lads! :notworthy:

agree with all your comments, the sooner my car gets back there the better!! there were jobs i thought i would never get round to doing as i dont trust people enough to touch my car, but these guys are top notch and cant wait to have my car in and out of there, the list keeps getting bigger for work i want them to do...

 

i would recommend them to everyone on here 8)

Can you do me a very quick basic quote on the following?

 

'94 VR6 - 110k Manual:

 

Fit Timing chain - virtually all parts purchased from VW already bar the large oil flange sealy thing.

Supply and fit clutch kit

Supply and fit Headgasket/headset and spacer + arp bolts (both the latter will be supplied)

Fit SP263 cams and lifters, swap cam sprockets etc to seperate pre-rebuilt head (most parts already purchased) re-fit new head.

Cheers mate, it's a really good runner with a super engine and drive, just needs some renewing of the more perishable bits and a real spruce up on the outside; quite the ugly duckilng among some gorgeous VW brand swans! Interior's nice and the outside will come up to spec soon, when this VR ends up wearing half of the clothes off its predecessor, which was the opposite: knackered engine, nice looking exterior!

 

Can't wait for it to go back to Dave and Graham soon, as even with the car's handling being a work in progress until the bushes and track rod ends have been done, the improvement in the handling from the bits they were able to sort is genuinely noticeable. Proper pair of magicians those two: they can even make a work in progress drive really rather well...

 

Really looking forward to seeing your super VR at a meet again soon; I think I'm going to be very jealous of all the excellent treatment it received recently...

Would just like to say my first experience of DG Autotech has been a very pleasant one :D

 

I already knew Dave and Graham prior to them going into business together and they're both very friendly, down to earth and talented guys, so a partnership of that calibre always was going to be a success! :salute:

FWIW, half of what ATPTurbo sell is made in China, including the turbo manifolds :lol:

 

You get the occasional bad one, but on the whole they're very good. And a manifold direct from the foundry in China costs less than a night out on the beers! :shock:

I think almost everything is made in China now, but when we asked about the quality of the internals of said turbo we didnt get a good enough reply so were going to stick with a proven product thats not much more money.

 

We cant sell something we dont trust :)
