F***in insurance!!!

Recommended Posts

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! :bad-words:

I hate insurance companies with a passion, what exactly do they do... really? I've just rang up adrian flux (my insurance) to get a quote to change my policy from my 1.3 8v suzuki swift to my corrado vr6... simple enough task. but noo, that would be sensible to just swap policies and continue my policy. I have to cancel my existing insurance policy which runs out in september so lose this years no claims and begin with yet another years fee for insurance. so that means i've wasted a full years insurance money on a complete load of w***kers in my opinion.

I was hoping seeing as i have 3 months left to transfer my policy across onto a fully comp so i can get a new windscreen, but even though i have 4 years no claims and am 22 they still want over 1k for fully comp. so i have to shell out £460 plus their admin fee of £20 (why?! is that not their job?! pay them to do admin work and then additional cost for admin work???) plus £400 on a windscreen. how can this be fair? pick a random number out the air, make their own rules blah blah blah. people rant on about petrol costs being high, what about insurance!!!

Insuring a vr6 when young is pricey! I renewed my insurance for my vr6 early this year, was 21 at the time, I just went 22 this february and have only 1 years no claims and i am paying a shade over 1k,fully comp. Thats with direct line, cheapest i could find by a long shot! So if you have 4 years NCB i would imagine it would be a fair bit cheaper than 1k???

I know, its totally ridiculous. might call up HIC and see if they can do anything. I live in quite a nice area as well so it isn't like its high risk. really hate insurance companies, they are basically ridiculously overpriced peace of mind. they charge ridiculous amounts and then when you actually need something from them they will winge and moan to get out of anything.

Don't go for speciallist companies unless you'e got a modified motor.

Having said that.....

I looked at Confused.com and priced up my Valver as standard and some companies like Tescos Value(really????!!!) wanted nearly double what i pay with all my mods with Equity Red Star through A Flux, figure that one out! :cuckoo:

What?! I've changed cars mid policy before! Could you not ask to speak to someone more senior to confirm that this is the case? In the (many) times I've changed over cars before I've been told I either have to pay a lump sum up front or they just increased my monthly insurance payments to the equivalent 'pro-rata' rate for the rest of the policy!

Speaking of HIC. I've been waiting 2 weeks for my agreed valuation to be accepted or declined, despite ringing to see whats going on with it and to be told its going to be done as soon as possible (yes as vague an answer as that).

Wouldn't touch Adrian Flux with a barge pole after previous hassles with my capri. :bad-words: They lost my documents and then threatened to cancel my insurance because they didn't have the documents! :brickwall:

As some of the other posts suggest, kick up a fuss and the so-called "admin fee" suddenly disapears.

i might try speaking to someone more senior but end of the day its not actually them who are insuring you because they are a broker. it really winds me up this admin fee, i don't get paid extra for doing my bloody job, its worse than the outrageous bank charges!!!

i just don't know what to do now because there is no-way in hell im losing a years no claims because they are morons, but i want my car on the road!!!

can you get someone else to insure your car? might try speaking to martin on ed38, see if he can do anything seeing as HIC are 'sister' company

AF can suck my balls! Wouldn't insure a car with them even if they paid me.

I don't know who else to use though, they always supply me with a good quote and to be honest my current car is worth alot more to me than its actually worth so if i did crash it id just repair it or write it off and not claim. Its just things like this that really wind me up, thats basically a total waste of the £350 i've paid this year.

Im not very good at kicking up a fuss so i don't really know how to approach this, my usual attempt ends up with me getting off the phone feeling worse than when i picked it up.

whats the problem exactly, is the broker that insured your swift via AF refusing to insure the corrado therefore you have to go through a different company? i can only imagine this is the case else they'd be able to transfer the policy?

I had this problem with changing my policy i have on the C to my lowly golf GTI 8v, they wanted hundreds more for the last remaining few months as the company specialised in corrados no golfs, bloody annoying! I'm see if you can call HIC ask for martin, if he's busy leave a message for him, as said above they are a sister company and he might be able to get to the bottom of it! - he was v helpful when i was insuring my C so i'm sure he'll help!

the broker insuring my swift won't insure the corrado so i have to use another company, which means cancelling one policy and starting another therefore losing 9 months into my years no claim and then having to pay a years insurance again. one thing i havn't tried is just insuring the corrado as a standard car (which it is), i just wanted to get future modifications declared so i don't have to stump for admin fee's. might be worth a crack.

I just really do not want to lose my insurance 9 months into my years no claims!!!

try insuring it as standard and wait 3 months then insure it with a specialist?

O and I'm 23 now but when i was 22 i insured my C with alot of mods, some of which i didnt get round to doing. when you come to reinsure just insure it for what your feasibly gonna do in the enxt year - i paid out an extra £100 to insure my carbon seats that never got fitted :(

its not the modifications or the price that particularly bothers me, yes its annoying but its the fact i will lose 9 months of no claims and have to shell out another years insurance when im soo close to 5 years no claims. i think im with a specialist now because my suzuki swift is modified (tastefully i might add, and its an old skool one so no laughing!!!)

try Chris Knott,...(advertised somewhere on here i think) i was 23 when i took out a new policy on my VR..only had 2 years NCB and it was shy of £700 fully comp! Just renewed for the year, now 24 with 3 yrs NCB and its only £644 fully comp which i think is really good no? :)

A word of warning. DON'T insure a car with future mods declared. If it get's nicked or you're in an accident and the mods aren't fitted you may well not be covered. It works the same way as not declaring mods you do have fitted. You need to chnage the mods on the insurance each time you fit or remove them (and normally pay an effing admin fee). It's a pain in the balls but if you don't play by their rules you'll pay for it if the need to claim arises.

Bloody hell - is the car worth that much??

I remember my VR being about £1,200 fully comp when I had just turned 21. They wouldn't touch me until then.

Yep, try Chris Knott mate, was cheaper than AF and could afford extra's such as 'no claims protection' and breakdown cover is only about £55.
