g0ldf1ng3r's VR6

Recommended Posts

After running the new exhaust for several weeks i really couldnt be more happy :D

it was spring deep clean for the VR this weekend & during the many hours of washing/t-cutting/more washing/ultra deep shine/resin top coat etc etc i thought i really should clean the exhaust & take the pics to post on here.

i have tried to show the install in full but couldnt get a nice pic of the bend work over the rear beam as i forgot to take them whilst it was on the ramps....

nobody got any thought or comments on the exhaust?

i thought there would be lots of feedback due to lack of exhaust options on the VR6

Looks good that's for sure, but how is it during everyday life? Noisy? Any knocking on the rear beam etc? Sound clip would be good.

Consider page 7 duly checked and youtube videos watched.

Sounds really good mate. BMC can be a bit of an overpowering noise when trying to film in the cabin but sounds great to me.

If you have access to a gopro or similar then stick it on the rear bumper and you'll get nothing but exhaust tone.

thanks chuggs, appreciated

im not sure how different the work would be at another branch of longlife. Paul at the one in birmingham took his time to ensure he, and i, were very happy with it

i appreciate hearing others thoughts & i am very glad i went with the decision to have a longlife system

gopro is a good idea - im pretty sure a couple of my m8's have them so will try to borrow one

i would like to do a recording as it drives past as well, as ive never heard it that way lol

you're right about the BMC & i love the way the sounds now move from exhaust to BMC as the revs rise - unfortunately the cabin video's audio doesnt capture that

plus, bearing in mind i had been speaking to various companies which were quoting around £1000 for a full system with sport cat i feel the £400 it cost me was an absolute steal!

PS can i have your brakes when your done with them? ;) lol

Cool - let me know if your up for it - I have the email address of the guy who will send passes - easier than filling in forma and posting. Then all you need to do is click your attending on the CCGB site (events list) Think you need to decide by about the 21st to get on the stand and the cheap entry

If you were closer I'd let you borrow my gopro, it's great for getting views and noises from various angles. I've never been brave enough to leave it on the side of the road though and do a driveby video, would love to get one and a rolling shot from another car. Maybe need to rope a few people in at the next show I'm at.

Moving from exhaust to induction noise sounds very similar to my techtonics system, which IMO is much better than some I've heard. And £400 with sports cat is an absolute steal! :thumbleft:

Haha! The brakes are one of my favourite bits of the car, not sure I'll ever be done with them. You're welcome to experience them if you're going to the autometrix day in August, but be warned you will want a set!

good idea about doing a drive by video at a show mic

i agree the price was cracking, especially when you consider it took him 7.5 hours to fabricate & fit

i would love to experience the brakes m8! though i already know i want them without the need for a test run lol

out of interest, would they fit under a 16" wheel or do they have to go under 17's?

is autometrix at castle combe? (just had a quick google)

Yeah, Castle Combe 15th August. Hopefully a few others will be in so should be a good day out.

My AP's will go under a 16" wheel but it would need a fair amount of spoke clearance. That's the beauty of the Rota's I usually have on it, loads of clearance!

cool thanks again mic

i did ask one of our parts distributors in the network about AP as they do stock some of their parts but unfortunately when AP split they sold of the AP Racing side to someone else.

i did for a few moments dream of the opportunity for some 4 pots at trade price, rather than £2K lol

thanks chuggs! I was beginning to feel unloved here as they had been up for an hour & not one comment :(

Bless ya :) I reckon of my 26,000 posts, 25,000 of them were ignored, you get used to it  The forum is definitely a lot quieter these days though, which may explain the lack of traffic in your thread!

Pleased to hear the exhaust is quiet. I HATE droney systems and he looks to have used a decent sized resonator, which is cool!

Having a Corrado collected by the RAC / AA is a right of passage that all Corrado owners should go through!

hello m8!! been a while since ive seen you pop up, hope you're well :)

lol i think i had a sensitive moment about the pics i posted as i know how limited exhaust options are - thanks for your reply ;)

it was a touch & go moment with the RAC as with the height i run it at it literally just about cleared the T trailer thing they drop out the back of the vans. if anyone is interested i run the '2 finger' gap mentioned on the suspension thread quite a lot

hows the R32 Kev?

Blimey, even the 2 finger gap is tight? You've got the 90mm front spoiler yeah? They are low cars though. 2 fingers just about gets a Corrado on Stealth's rollers too!

Got rid of the R32 ages ago mate :) Got an Edition 30 now. Had it mapped and that's about it. I just drive it to and from work. Certainly no joy rides like I used to do all the time in the Corrado! Having said that, my old favourite blasting road has just had average speed cameras slapped up on it :(

yeah there wasnt much clearance on the T trailer thing but no the VR has the later smaller one, the valver has the 90mm i believe.

not sure how tight it was for the stealth rollers, vince didnt mention it

ahh yeah, forgive my ailing brain id forgotten you now had the ED30. lol joy rides seem to be very common with rado owners! i always go the long way to the local shop ;)

is the ED30 not giving you an itch elsewhere if it really is just a work horse?

Yeah I used to do that all the time when I was tuning the VRT. "Just popping out for some fags dear...." 3 hours later......

I don't know what it is mate. I loved MK5s when I owned the Corrado and always wanted an ED30, but now I have one, it's like "meh". Must just be my age (bored of cars), or I've got a case of the 'the next greatest thing' syndrome or something! It's certainly quick, handles really well, practical, very reliable.....but somehow isn't "giving me the fizz", to coin Mr May.

ha ha exactly m8, gotta love the fun trips :D

oh i see. i think Mr May hit it on the head with that statement, the 'fizz' really does count! oh well Kev, i spose if anything then the current time with the ED30 will let you formulate your thoughts on cars & what to have as a daily or fun...or both :)
