g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted December 5, 2016 You now have the excuse to add a G60 to the fleet now lol. ha ha ha i probably would if it could but supercharger rebuild costs would kill me off completely ;)
g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted December 5, 2016 Not sure his mechanic could keep up with the workload :) fortunately, apart from MOT, it is their 1st visit each to the mechanic this year as such hopefully still cheaper than running a newer car
g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted December 16, 2016 been ill all week so not much doing really i did get the valver back last saturday - turned out to be an old rogue immobiliser had shorted under the dash where it was spliced into the loom feed for the fuel pumps. apparently it was not the best wiring job lol hence why i couldnt hear the fuel pumps - i use the plural as interestingly the valver has 2, a low pressure in the tank & then a high pressure underneath the low pressure pump was looking worse for wear too with furry contacts etc so that was all cleaned & tested as ok thus collected it last saturday & it definitely felt to be running a bit smoother with the new ignition leads - which it should really as one lead was broken & then i saw some splits in the outer casing so they were likely tracking in the damp only did a couple of short journeys as was low on fuel come monday morning & it decided to misbehave again! this time it would turn over for a second & then a clunk & all went dead :( WTF!? this repeated a couple of times & had me head scratching. cue phone calls to work & to mechanic & then to dad in case i needed another tow. then made a mental list of what to check, fuses, leads etc im not sure why but i then had the thought about the Sigma cat1 i had installed when i first owned the car. ever since buying it back i have not had to use the Sigma key fob. i stopped using it to lock/unlock the doors within a couple of days of picking it up as the siren would freak out occasionally but i did wonder why i didnt need to disable the immobiliser thus with nothing to loose i thought id give disarming the immobiliser a try before i started to pull the dash out etc well wouldnt you know it fired 1st time!! i have no explanation for it but for some reason after over 2 years of having her back the Sigma has now jumped back to life. all i can think is that the wiring for the rogue old unit was somehow overriding the Sigma hey ho a £ less fix - thank fook lol this had now made me think about if i could contact Sigma & get the manual code for the keypad thingy, in case the fob stops working as for the VR - i am going to call my mechanic today to see if the HiSpec's have arrived yet
coullstar 0 Posted December 16, 2016 Rip the alarm stuff out if you don't need it. They are pointless these days IMO and cause so much hassle and grief.

g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted February 14, 2017 just a wee note to say thank you to one of our latest members, grizzlybear he very kindly sent me his pair of early front speaker covers as he no longer needed them due to his audioscape find & my valvers ones were cracked not only free but he even paid the postage much appreciated m8! g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted February 20, 2017 well screw me sideways with a fecking chainsaw!! the VR is throwing her toys out yet again :( mechanic finished the welding, after being a bitch & reacting 4 times to the stuff he was putting over it, & was about to take her for a test drive to see how the new brakes are warmed her up gently & all good until she decided to over pressurise yet again but this time blew the fecking matrix out none of the obvious head gasket signs but she is not happy for some reason proper sucked the life out of me all weekend & not a happy bunny today
mic_VR 3 Posted February 20, 2017 Chin up mate, these things are sent to try us! Amazed it blew the matrix out, I thought the caps were meant to give before then?
g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted February 20, 2017 Chin up mate, these things are sent to try us! Amazed it blew the matrix out, I thought the caps were meant to give before then? thank mic - im trying m8, believe me im trying both my mechanic & myself share your amazement - neither of us could figure how or why it blew the matrix bit typical as i literally took delivery of a one way valve to put back in the coolant hoses as stealth didnt swap the OE one into the roose pipes which could possibly have saved the matrix no mayo on filler cap, no sign of oil mixing with coolant in header tank & a head scratcher as to why the matrix blew when the header cap didnt. the latter goes at 20 PSI apparently something is not right though as when it has over pressurised 3 times now. 1st time i thought it was a jubilee on the aux water pump but then it blew there again & now with a new aux pump fitted the matrix let go plus i am mystified as Stealth only rebuilt the head about 10K ish miles ago, when i replaced pretty much everything that could be suspect in this event. if it turns out to be head gasket i am going to be fuming as it would be yet another saga with the stealth work, which was painful enough as it is. AFAIK vince did the 2nd head rebuild himself due to so many issues with the 1st rebuild might have to track my cc/'s as i think i part paid on a card - does anyone know if c/c insurance covers part payments or just full payments for things? Geeba 0 Posted February 20, 2017 Awww matrix! that sux hugely! - I'm not looking forward to the day mine decides to let go :(
g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted February 22, 2017 Awww matrix! that sux hugely! - I'm not looking forward to the day mine decides to let go :( matrix itself is not such an issue - it really isnt that hard to change one, just time consuming it is why the VR is over pressurising that is worrying me - hoping for news today
g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted March 1, 2017 update on the VR i type this with some hesitation in my fingers BUT the VR had a successful test drive on friday last week with a matrix bypass in place & after a static warm up showed no signs of over-pressuring, with the exception of slightly hard coolant hoses, off she went on a test drive after a little open road running my mechanic said the idle stable issue was better & seemed to sort itself out, fingers crossed it idle's better on the next start up 4 pots were reported to be feeling good, though obviously need gentle bedding in, & thoughts are that they will be great once they can be lent on fully & most importantly no issues of over pressuring thus, fingers crossed still, it looks like it was the matrix letting go looks like the dash will be coming out of both the VR & the valver at some point soon then lol i did remember that VR mot is due in the next few days though so am hoping it gets a new ticket ok cant wait to get her back, bed the brakes in & hear that beautiful sound again :D
