Gauge in Vent help please!

Recommended Posts

Another daft question from me as I can't work out what to do. I have decided to put a boost gauge in the driver's vent as shown below.

Basically the problem I have is thus: the gauge fits, however the gubbins at the back that the hose and light attaches to sits against the flap in the vent tunnel and means I will be unable to connect it up unless some drilling is done. So do I:

a) drill a hole in the flap and keep it shut

b) have the flap permanently open (horizontal) so the connectors fit either side of it, meaning that it will always have hot or cold air blowing over it

c) remove the flap completely, drill a hole in the tunnel and possibly make up a smaller dummy flap to sit a bit further back, or not have a flap and have the same results as B.

Just wanted to get opinions and see if anyone else has done something similar.

Cheers guys and gals

I'd do B as it's the least destructive. On fan 1 and 2 not a lot comes through the vents anyway and you can always direct the air to another route with the knob wotsit. I don't think I've ever adjusted the passenger flow control thing from the full 'on' anyway!

Do you hav eto put the gauge there? Doesn't look that great imo... Sorry mate..

If you are going to get involved in drilling and modifying etc wouldn't it be better to put the gauge somewhere else?

I'd remove the flap, I think it just unclips from memory?

I've thought about putting a guage there also but wasn't sure how well my guage would stand up to to the heat, cause I have it on full hot all year round

Its practical for my eyes, it sits right in my line of vision and is near the rev counter which I look at a lot! I'm not really into the pillar gauges, which look a bit chav to me, and in the centre would not be easy to see. So :p

i have one of these, (didnt fit it myself) love it! the previous owner drilled a small holl in the lower of the tube after the flap and put the gubins through that - i can imagen that it wouldnt be hard to cover if it was removed. also allows you to keep the flap closed.

my advise - use it and find a way! lol
