F-1 to enter "Silly Season"

Recommended Posts

So with the worst-kept secret in the world not at all confirmed or denied by Ferrari.. which means it's 99% happening... as well as BMW going and Toyota showing signs they'll follow... the end of 2009 looks like a very interesting one for Diver movements

In your opinion who's going where?

IF Alonso ( :hitler: ) get's the seat at Feari, I think McLaren would be fruit-loops not to pick up Kimi again... esp against the "touted two" of Rosberg or Heidfeld. However he's also reportedly "interested" in Brawn...

Add in the mix of the "new boys" coming next year as well, we could see some interesting names in interesting cars...

Kimi driving for Team US??? We all know the power a big budget vs shite car can have don't we Jenson? :shrug:

To be honest i'd like to see kimi back at Mclaren, being Hamiltons wing man. Though i'm not sure where i'd place Heikki if he was to lose his seat at Mclaren. Trulli, Glock and especially Kubica i can see being with one of the new teams.. wouldnt like to say which ones though. Massa and Alonso at Ferrari. Brawns i reckon will stay the same with Button and Rubens, they've done well this season - despite jensons lack of results recently.

But what about Renault, who to expect to drive for them next season? :shrug:

I think MacLaren will keep Heikki in 2010. He's starting to show some form again & MacLaren don't like switching drivers too often compared to some of the other teams.

Raikonnen just hasn't been either fast or consistent enough during the past two seasons to be worth hiring. Massa has been consistently faster and Alonso is about to get his seat at Ferrari. Kubica is fast enough, but somehow I can't see them picking him somehow. But if Heikki is shown the door, my money is on Nico Rosberg getting the drive. Don't forget daddy used to drive for Ron...

I would love to see alonso in a ferrari, the fact that the rumour has just been so much stronger this season tells stories itself, even Mclaren expect him to go. The thing is though ferrari are pushing for a 3rd car next season is that for alonso so they can keep kimi and massa? Will save them having to buy Kimi's contract out as well or is the 3rd car possibly for a certain Mr. Schumacher, although he's not hinted to returning after the taste he had of it I'm sure he would jump at the chance once his injury has cleared up, who knows though.

Really looking forward to Spa this weekend, its such an awesome circuit and eau rouge really is porn, would be a fantastic circuit to do a trackday at, especially with corrados.

Big line of rado's all going through eau rouge :luvlove:

A man can dream :lol:

He hasn't exactly left MacLaren though has he? He's still overall group Chairman and one of the key stock owners. Martin Whitmarsh runs the racing team, but Ron Dennis runs MacLaren.

My thoughts for 2010, in no particular order:

Ferrari = Alonso + Massa

Renault = Kubica + Grosjean

McLaren = Hamilton + Rosberg

Williams = Kovalainen + Hulkenberg

Toyota = Heidfeld + Glock

Brawn = Button + Barichello

Red Bull = Vettel +Webber

The rest still unsure!!

I can go with that ^^ but what if Toyota isnt in F1 in 2010?

There are (apparently) three new teams coming in next year, established drivers will have to join the market, but let's face it would anyone miss the talented but uninspiring Jarno Trulli if he were to be left without a seat?

I liked the look of the GlosterOx's list above BTW, except for the selection of Grosjean at Renault. I think Briatore would be more likely to take a chance on Raikonnen, believing he can remotivate him.

Haha, I can just see Briatore prancing like the Child-catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang "Ice cream's"

^^^^^ :lol: :lol: :lol:

As Toymotor are shutting production lines and have backed out the 2010 GP I think the F1 team will be axed too!

So that's 2down and 3 in... so far...

Vettel will stay put, he's just signed a new contract! (immaculate timing? :confused4: )

I wonder if Flavio will go for a "Galactico" team next year?? or just a good driver and an unproven hotshoe... he has a list of them that he manages waiting! Actually he manages about 1/2 the F1 grid doesn't he?

I would put money on Toyota being out of F1 for 2010,

the thing that I keep wondering about is the fact that there is going to be these 3 new teams but who is going to replace bmw and toyota? Will a buyer be found for bmw in time and/ or same with toyota. Personally I would have loved to have seen Aston Martin & Prodrive being accepted, its not like they aren't an upmarket brand. Id have went for them over Manor Racing to be fair, plus there is the regulations next year of no fuel stops which should make things interesting and although there is a lot of speculation about that I think it should spice up the racing.

Alonso for Ferrrari is practically fact but the 3rd car that Ferrari want would that be for Schumacher? Would be pretty spectacular to see Alonso, Schuey and Massa all in the one team but I can't see it happening somehow *sob* :shrug:

Proper looking forward to the race today, really hope Fisichella can bring home a win for Force India, really breathes a new life into the team getting such impressive results especially after the poor points score, the developments to the car really have shined and kudos to the team for the effort!

BRING ON SPA :grin:

I never really rated Fisichella, but i have to say he drove the race perfectly. Didnt put a wheel wrong. Be good to see force india do well in the remaining races.

The question is, will Button throw it all away :shrug: He's only ahead by 18 points now.

Was so chuffed to see Force India do so well, really shows how far they have moved forward with the development of the car,

Monza next and again another low downforce circuit so that should suit there car, would be great to see them get another strong result.

I think Button realises now he really has got to get back to being competitive and as Ross Brawn said in his interview "He has to get used to the pressure" meaning he obviously hasn't been dealing with it too well, but to be fair he's never been at the top like this before so its all new to him but he really does need to get the head down and get on with it. Barichello really wants to beat him and I think if he keeps performing the way he is he will be Jenson's closest enemy if he doesn't perform, plus Webber & Vettell ain't far behind either so he's gotta screw the nut :)

latest rumour is that Fizzy's off to Ferrari for rest of season as "what-his-face-still-not-on-google" is being retired again!

There will have to be a massive compensation package to F-India for that surely! :cuckoo:

Remember "Ferrari-gate" that eventually saw Alonso out of a McLaren contract, and onto Renault?

Will we now have "Renault-gate"? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsp ... 229787.stm

Odd that just as he wants to jump ship again that his team are being investigated... again!

I for one would happily tie Alonso to the back of a safety car when Grojean's out on track if this is his doing again!

God know what Flav will do to him?

The 'new information' which caused FIA to open the race-fixing investigation originated from Brazilian TV network Globo... allegedly not long after disgruntled former-Renault man Piquet Jr. returned home... so may be nothing to do with Ferdy this time round.

I struggle to believe that Ferrari will field Badoer in Italy despite his nationality. Alonso will not happen until 2010 earliest, and given his performance at Spa, I can't see Fisicella being poached for the next race without significant legal challenges from Force India.

At the weekend Stefano Dominicali said in an interview with the BBC that Ferrari will make thier plans for the rest of 2009 clear "in the next 3 days". This announcement is expected to encompass the decision on the possible replacement of Badoer, as well as to clarify the outlook regarding the Massa/Alonso/Raikkonen seating plan in 2010. A lot will depend on whether Massa is expected to recover enough to compete. That announcement should therefore be coming today/tomorrow.

Raikkonen's improved performance in the past 3-4 races has complicated the decision for Ferrari, although I'm sure it's been very welcome at Maranello. They now have an injured driver they want back, a driver they've made no secret of seeking out, and a past champion who has now rediscovered his brilliant form. But more to the point none of these drivers is able to solve the immediate problem of Badoer's lack of pace.

Given that the candidate must have a superlicence I Ferrari will be looking either at one of the eligible drivers who've tested in F1 last year, or perhaps a hotshoe from GP2. Whoever is selected will also have to accept that they will not have a Ferrari drive in 2010 almost regardless of how quick they prove to be. They also have to be acceptable to Ferrari's sponsors. Some pundits have mentioned Germany's Nico Hulkenberg but I don't think the successor is that obvious. I guess we'll just have to wait & see?

John (apologies for the lack of a conclusion in this post!)
