lockdown 0 Posted October 26, 2009 Just a thought that popped into my head. My grey carpet in the rado is looking a bit minging and some of the various marks and stains don't want to shift with the spray and scrub stuff I picked up in halfords. So I was thinking, could the colour be changed e.g. dying it black? Has anyone done anything like this? I know of people just spray painting the head liner and parcel shelf etc but I don't think that would be very durable on the floor. Or did vw do a black corrado carpet worth sourcing and swapping it for that? Thanks
coolrado 0 Posted October 26, 2009 you would be better off getting the black carpets out of another rado, they are made from a synthetic fabric so very difficult to dye.
lockdown 0 Posted October 26, 2009 Are black carpets common? I've can't remember seeing a corrado with one. Ebay is just throwing up boot carpet

warren 0 Posted October 29, 2009 i dyed the carpets on my last corrado  i used normal black fabric dye and put it in a spray bottle, you really have to make sure you get an even coverage! but looked great when finished :D
JMC 0 Posted October 29, 2009 Black carpets do come up for sale reasonably often - expect to pay about £40-50 for them. The headlining can be sprayed with fabric paint (I have done that). Takes loads to get good coverage (I used 3 cans), and I found it to not be hard wearing. It's fine until your mates go 'oooh look at that' and start rubbing it (weird mates). If I were to do it again I would just recover the headlining with either lightweight alcantara or some stretchy dark material.
fla 9 Posted October 29, 2009 best way to clean them though is out of the car. Use some Vanish spray and leave it on for a while. Then some Ariel liquid, hot ater a hrd brush and some serious elbow grease. Should shift most of the crap, plus it will smell nice afterwards too :)
