iR6 0 Posted March 30, 2010 Apparently on top of the standard RS limited slip it has 'RevoKnuckle front suspension' ?! Anyone know what that revoknuckle is? Sounds like a 'porn move'! google it. It's Ford's attempt at taming torque steer. Renault claim to have invented it first though. just had a quick look, quite a simple idea, ford seem adamant on sticking with fwd, fair play on doing it too as it's all to easy to give in and use a awd system. It was fitted to the standard Rs too so not new to the 500 like I thought.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted March 30, 2010 Yep, FWD is no longer 'wrong wheel drive' imo. 4WD will always win in outright traction but point-to-point, the gaps are closing!
coullstar 0 Posted March 30, 2010 I dont like it, dont know why. Its like it trying too hard. Theres quite a few going about up here but Im not taken by it for some reason but then Ive never been a Ford man. No denying its ability. Its funny you should say that, because I've never actually been a big fan of the standard (if you can call it that!) RS, as I really didn't like the flagship "lime green" colour, as I thought it was too loud and in yer face, and screamed "LOOK AT ME!"..... but I find the new RS500's matt black actually changed my opinion, and because it's not as "visually" loud as a lime-green RS, it appeals to me more. It kinda reminds me of a modern day kitt out of knightrider! For me thats why it stands out, how many other Matt black cars do you see. If it had been a unique colour then possibly but dont really like Matt cars in general either. I certianly wont be buying one so I dont have to worry about it. I also think its a bit crap using the Rs500 name,
Dr Forinor 0 Posted March 30, 2010 I quite like it, reminds me of the Integra DC5 interior, which is a great place to be. The seats are near perfection. I'm not sure about the exterior now i've seen those extra shots :? Looks a bit Mad Max. If that came past me I'd expect to see a severed arm on a chain dragging along the road behind it..... Hmm, I've not sat in the RS seats (or the DC5 seats) but I wasn't massively impressed with the Focus ST seats. I dont know, I just think the interior doesn't seem to be "special enough" to go along with "special RS500" name. Hehe, funnily enough, I am really fond of the exterior, does that make me a chav?
greasegriff 0 Posted March 30, 2010 Pistonheads reckon this is gonna cost in the region of £35k! That's a lot of dosh for what is essentially a mildly uprated standard RS.
Jim 2 Posted March 30, 2010 The standard RS is £27k... I casually went for a browse at the Ford site and almost fell off my chair when I read that.
bananawhip 0 Posted March 30, 2010 All getting a bit max power for me these days... Ford Focus with a big body kit :brickwall: What ever happened to clean lines, If I was looking for something to spend 35k on it wouldn't be a hatchback with a blue oval on the bonnet

Isn't the Golf R £36K though, and only 260hp? And compared to the Focus, it'll sound like a bland old dishwasher aswell thanks to VW axing the the best engine they ever made. Jim 2 Posted March 30, 2010 If I was looking for something to spend 35k on it wouldn't be a hatchback with a blue oval on the bonnet Especially considering you could pick up a 2 year old Audi S6 with the Gallardo derived V10 in it for that kind of dollar.. greasegriff 0 Posted March 30, 2010 its not even painted btw, just a matt black vinyl wrap Me and a mate were talking about that. That'll be the new game for 12 year olds - peel the RS500!!!
corozin 0 Posted March 31, 2010 The standard RS is £27k... I casually went for a browse at the Ford site and almost fell off my chair when I read that. Pure marketing Jim. The last version of the RS was snapped up when they brought it out in August. My guess is that Ford reckon there are more fish in the sea to be had. But frankly £35k for a Focus is getting a bit silly, if that's the proposed price. For that money the car should come with 4WD. I suspect that an Evo FQ340 would still be a fair bit quicker except on dry & smooth surfaces. But Ford are selling to Ford enthusiasts... I remember years ago Subaru managed to sell the 22B edition for over £50k, and VW sold the Beetle RSi at £54k... you only need enough people with the right money... bananawhip 0 Posted March 31, 2010 VW sold the Beetle RSi at £54k     I had no idea they were anything like that much money Beetle with an R32 engine and massive body kit, one born every minute I suppose
