Ady_G 0 Posted January 29, 2004 I always wanted an Audi Quattro Turbo UR like that, and I did consider a 944 S2 as an alternative to a VR6 when i was looking for a Corrado. Do you prefer your Corrado over all your previous motors? I would be interested to see how they compare to a Corrado Cheers Ady

Do you prefer your Corrado over all your previous motors? I would be interested to see how they compare to a Corrado Cheers Ady well out of them i would rate them in this order 1)Audi ur-quattro 2)Corrado VR6 3)Porsche 924S 4)Porsche 944 turbo 5)Porsche 924lux so far since buying my storm in august 2001 ive never once went for a "test"-drive of anything else to change it with or even thought about it......though an Escort Cosworth would tempt me a bit...........but i'm not going to pay thru the nose for one especially the prices they still can command.......i find my storm a good compromise between decent performance and manageable running costs  The only reason i still don't have an ur is the missus...........she heard about how dear parts can be and were also running costs etc(20 gallon tank that needed refuelling weekly  ......back when a gallon was about £2.50) though fully comp was a reasonable £550  anyway she wanted me to get shot of ASAP much to my regret  my 944turbo was not the best example on reflection(hence why so lowly rated by me.......went fast enough but had a fair few EXPENSIVE niggles.....tho if you found a good one it would be a different story) whereas my 924S was a 2-owner FPSH ex-Charles Follet demo so was pretty well specced and had been well-looked after the 924 lux was a minter but a wee bit overpriced for the performance or lack of it 125bhp when i had come out of my 150bhp 2.8i XR4i
Jim 2 Posted January 30, 2004 I like the 944 Turbo, and of course the UR Quattro.. what great cars :)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 30, 2004 Ah the good old UR....what a motor! Just as the MK1 GTI spawned a new genre, then so did the UR  Much copied but never bettered imo. A guy down the road from me graces me with that demonic 5 cylinder growl every morning on the way to the train station....lovely noise! If only the 'shortie' was cost effective.....I'd be in one without a shadow of a doubt. Dyalinx still do the conversion I think (40cm cut out out between the A & B pillars?) and one of theirs does 0-60 in less than 4 seconds....awesome! vr6storm 0 Posted January 30, 2004 Kev ok the Sport SWB model is the ultimate........but even an early(i prefer digital dash ones tbh 84 A>)10v is serious fun........just with a bit of a fuel thirst but worth it  if i knew i could sweet talk the missus into me getting one again then i would.......and as for that ur-quattro exhuast note..........that to me is sexier than some V8 rumble  ............go on you know you want too  Karmann sorry matey......my storm's a keeper.....though after its little start and stop tantrum this evening     ........... vr6storm 0 Posted June 16, 2004 found some pics i took of my previous motor just before i traded it in........anyway it was a 1995 M-plate BMW 318ti(Sport-pack) 1.8 16v-140bhp with the following BMW sport seats in anthracite cloth M-tech Suspension M-tech side rubbing strips M-tech M3 style lights BMW-BBS 17inch split-rims 8) Black BMW "kidney" grille thought i would miss it when i traded it in for the storm but the drive back from edinburgh made sure i've never once regretted it 8) ......even so it was still a nice car to drive(even with the older E-30 type rear suspension) anyway bought this when i went to look at a 8-valve C at my local stealers and kept it for just over 2years and 26k miles

STORM 2 0 Posted June 17, 2004 One thing i have to say is-youve got good taste in cars. I second that. I know sometimes marital pressure is sometimes overwhelming but I can't believe you got rid of the UR I would have hidden it in a mate's garage if I had to and told her it was gone. Then you tell her youre taking the dog for a walk and pop round the corner and hey presto youre off. I know this ingenuity because a mate of mine did the same for three years with a race modded Kawasaki 750ZR. He tried to sell it to me because the pressure was getting to him but when I went for a test ride I very nearly s**t myself when I hit 8000rpm   But seriously, a nice catalogue of cars My boring list is Golf MK1 1.3(when passed test at 17) Polo 1.3CL (going backwards here but I was a student and the car was perfect as a load lugger - did 1400 miles, fully loaded, in 48 hours without a complaint) Golf MK3 1.8SE - the only car I've ever bought brand new and did 36000 boring miles in 1 year Corrado Storm NO CAR FOR 2 YEARS Corrado Storm
