EJ Taylor 22 Posted July 4, 2016 When i sold my beetle a fair few years back i literally said in the description: "if i dont like you or dont think you have the right intentions for the car, i will not sell it you" haha. Why not. Better than some garage buying it and sticking 2k on it then it sitting on a forecourt for 3 years.

DarrenVR6 0 Posted July 4, 2016 What exhaust is on it ? It's not origional.... No it's not :-( It needed a new back box a couple of years ago, the old man went to VW - and they couldn't provide one anymore - so amazingly Halfrauds stocked one for the VR6. If anyone knows where to buy an OEM one then let me know and we'd get it put on. It's the only thing on the car (apart from the battery!) that isn't original! Jim 2 Posted July 4, 2016 I guess this will be another one that we can expect to go for a reasonable amount, and then end up being sold by a 'specialist' at twice the price in a few weeks time.

I bought one of the last OEM zorst about five years ago, rear box and mid section was 800 notes... Just because I wanted it origional. Have all the rubber components been replaced, they go brittle at this age. What are the roof strips like ? Are the rear calipers origional. They tend to seize without use.. I know my car is similar mileage and condition.. That halfords zorst has to go :) Don't sell it... Keep it for yourself :) I wouldn't be selling on eBay.. Here, corrado club or carandclassic.. At a push pistonheads... Too many idiots on eBay. Harrier it's black :) Edited July 4, 2016 by delfinis38

DarrenVR6 0 Posted July 4, 2016 It was just the back box that needed replacing I think (I would have to double check) - but as you said bloody VW just stopped making them! Anything that's needed to be done has been done - as it goes to VW in Camberley once a year for it's service. It's been garaged all of it's life so hasn't suffered from the elements (and rarely even go out if it's raining) - roof strips are perfect, and I think it's still on the original rear callipers (again I'd have to check with my Dad to be sure), and everything works just as it should. It could well be on show for VW. Perhaps I could contact them and see if they want it for a museum somewhere! I'm tempted to keep it. It's in my garage at the moment - and I keep telling the folks they've gone senile and they sold it ages ago and have just forgotten :-) I won't tell you what replaced it - otherwise you'll hunt them down and burn them at the stake !! nakgti 0 Posted July 4, 2016 Right , don't post on here much ... kinda sit on the fence a lot . Anyhow's reading through this with the " it's worth this and that " , thought i'd throw my 2 pence worth here.... I am sure with your mum having had it so long it's well a truly paid for at this stage and she didn't keep it so long to make a profit on it. She kept it for the love of the car.... I think you should come to a agreement with your mum and keep it in the family for years to come.... Or just tell her ya couldn't sell it : D

reggiebaby 10 Posted July 5, 2016 That's me out, mind you it is eBay money in the bank and all that.
Jim 2 Posted July 5, 2016 Unfortunately I highly doubt that is a genuine bid. There doesn't seem to be any reserve either - despite what the seller is saying. If the car had finished at £2,000 they would be legally obliged to have sold it for that. If you want a reserve on an eBay auction, you need to actually do it in the auction - not just say it in the item description.
BILLCOR 1 Posted July 5, 2016 Why did it jump from £6k straight to £10k, nothing in between
Jim 2 Posted July 5, 2016 Why did it jump from £6k straight to £10k, nothing in between  The only way that could happen would be if the previous high bidder had set their highest bid to just under that amount, and the now current highest bidder assumed they could just increment the auction a bit but also entered their highest / max bid - and in doing so it jumped 4k. I understand that Jim, but it doesn't show up in the automatic bids? Had the previous high bidder set his max at £9999 and the new high bidder comes in at £10k, surely that would show?
